    Hello Hive,

I opted to use an old mailbox instead of a cardbox or birdcage. I figured it would work well with our old rustic theme. I found this mailbox on Craigslist and the best part is, it was free! I love free. Do you guys think I should leave it as it is or should I decorate it somehow, I would take the numbers off the front- I was thinking I could replace the numbers with our wedding date numbers, any thoughts- I'm hoping someone out there can inspire me.

Well seen as you're going for rustic I say leave it but i really like your idea of changing the numbers to your wedding date - so cute and maybe you could include your and your FI's initials!?

PS - Free is my favourite word!Wink

Love it! I like your idea of leaving it rustic and changing the numbers. Might be hard to do both? I guess you'll have to see how permanently those numbers are attached! Maybe it would be possible to just cover them with the new numbers? I think maybe there are number stickers out there that are printed white on a field of black or something - you know what I mean? - so the whole sticker is actually square rather than number-shaped. Those might cover easier.

    Good luck!

I'd change the numbers, and put your new last name (if you're sharing one) on the side (I've seen a lot of old mailboxes like that). I think it would be cute, anyway. ;)

Love the idea, and that it was free!!

You could paint it with some crackle paint and "age" it with some faint brushing of a gold color along the edges.

I agree with the others in that you can either cover up the numbers or replace them and andd your new last name to the side. You can even so some painting if you wish that LLaura had suggested. Either way, that mailbox will fit perfectly with your wedding!

I love marigold's idea! Your date and last name would look really great.

What a neat idea! If it seems dirty, I'd clean it and consider using crackle paint like LLaurra suggested. Show us a pic of what you do!

you could also paint it in your wedding colors then take sandpaper or steel wool to it ...and I agree that the dates are a great idea...perhaps a monogram too!
