Don’t know if this would work for anyone else, but Darling Husband and I rounded up a bunch of old college/grad school textbooks we no longer wanted and traded them in via Amazon for store credit. We’re going to use the credit to buy our stroller and some other baby gear. Darling Husband was super happy about this! We got $222 for 6 books, 3 of which were purchased >10 years ago. I could not believe we got money for some of DH’s books from undergrad! There were 8 books we wanted to get rid of that they wouldn’t take, but at least they took some of them!

I’ve never done this, but my little sister did the same thing and got a few hundred dollars from Amazon. These were health science type books that were in new editions by now and everything, she was really surprised by what they took.

How do you go about trading things in? I’m thinking that I might some books that I could trade in and put towards baby gear.

Yeah, how did you do that? We’ve got lots of old textbooks!

@BabyEtobe: It’s really easy, actually. You can start here and look up your books to see if they’ll take them and how much they’ll give you. http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse/ref=trdrt_cart_store_gl_book?ie=UTF8&node=2205237011
Once you’ve added all the books you want to trade in, you print out a pre-paid mailing label, packing slip, and put it in the mail.
My sister tried and Amazon wouldn’t take any of her old textbooks, but she was able to trade in some old electronics she no longer wanted.

Wow, you read my mind or something!! This weekend we went through one of the closets to get ready for baby and realized how many text books we have. I was wondering how I can get rid of them and now I know. Yay!! Thank you!!

Nice to have had a major where you can do that :-). I’m a scientist, and my books were out of date within a year. Boo!

I loooove Amazon trade in! We haven’t done textbooks, but we traded in a bunch of video games and DVDs we no longer wanted and made like $200.
