sure I think that's fine! Especially since you're having a buffet. Your guests will know whether they want the chopsticks or not. The other alternative would be to set every place with chopsticks tucked in with the silverware.
I think that chopsticks in a nice presentation w/ the silverware at the beginning of the buffet line will be just fine.

So, I have some older Chinese relatives that are just not comfortable with using forks. The only other alternative I've been able to come up with so far is to place some nice bamboo chopsticks in a basket by the plates at the beginning of the buffet set up. What do you guys think? Any other ideas? We can't set specific places with chopsticks because we're only assigning tables, not seats.
