Yep, only by three years though. I have gotten some "cougar" jokes, lol, just because he's still in his 20's and I'm in my 30's. He DID refer to me as an antique the other day....
HAHA! We're just 6 months apart, with me being the older one...and my FI teases me ALL the time about it! There is a period in each year when we're the same age, and miraculously the jokes cease during that time period...but once my birthday passes again, it's on!
I'm two years older than him. He teases me about it occasionally, but it's really not an issue since we both met when we were over 30.
I'm 1.5 years older than him. Now it's not a big deal, but when we first met he told me he was 19. Then we went on our first date, on his 19th birthday. When I asked why he'd lied he said, "oh well, it was like 2 weeks from my birthday, so I just rounded up". lol!
Hmm... two years is nothing!
Not going to say exactly how many years, but yea.. I am older than my groom, too. :)
I'm half a year older than my fiance. My parents are always teasing me with the "cradle robber" joke. I hate it!
Most of the time it's easy to forget...he looks (and usually acts) years older than me, so that helps. =)
JoonBee- now I'm curious. Everyone around here knows that I'm 11 years older than my spouse! While it sounds like a lot, we don't even notice the difference anymore.
I should say that no one knows we are different ages unless we bring it up. People at work were shocked about it before they met him, but once they did everything clicked...
We didn't get a lot of comments either, but I absolutely hate when people jokingly call me a "Cougar". He pursued me, not the other way around!
I'm just 11 days older, but he loooooves those 11 days and talks about how young he is until his birthday when he finally shuts it :)
Hmmm.... I think people only make "cradle robber" jokes when there's really not that much of an age difference. I'm 5 years older than my fiance and no one ever makes jokes! :S At least I look younger than him!
I am a year older but The Boy corrects me all the time "nine months". I am the one who gives him a hard time about marrying older women.
I'm four years older than him, but not a single person has made a big deal out of it. Maybe it's because my brother is four years younger than his wife, or because fiance's sister is seven years younger than her husband.
I'm four years older but I look younger than him too!! He gets his panties all up in a bunch when I get carded and he doesn't! haha!
i'm a year and a half older. i had said that i would only get married when we were 1 year apart, but i folded because when we got engaged, that would have meant waiting more than a year or throwing something together in 4 months. since i just started new job, that wasn't going to happen, so we're getting married when we're two years apart. i still cringe at the thought (yes, i know it's not a big deal!) but i can't wait to get married to him. no matter how young. ;)
Oh we have a joke between us that I'm the "old head" ... I'm EXACTLY 51 weeks older than him ... yep, just one week shy of a year. It's always fun to joke about and makes birthday celebrations fun (we're the same age for a week! haha)
I am 2 years and 2 1/2 months older than my FI. People who don't know us usually think that he is older, so we've never had anyone say anything to us. Now my FI won't let me forget, he keeps saying I'm old! You're only as old as you feel and I still feel like I'm in my twenties!! I have a birthday coming up next week, will be 36 and just realized that I am closer to "40" than to "30" now!! But I still can pass for a twenty-something and that is all that matters!!!!
i'm a year and a half older, but we graduated university at the same time, i did an extra year because i didn't quite know what i wanted to do at first!
I am two months shy of ten years older than my FH. I joke that we're waiting until 2011 to get married because I refuse to marry a youngin' in his 20's! The funny thing is my daughter's dad is 15 years older than me so my ex is 25 years older than my future husband. Yeah, age truly doesn't matter to me :-)
Ha, I'm glad I'm not alone! I haven't gotten a cougar joke yet, thankfully.
@TheDivineMissE- Ha, that's hilarious!
@Mrs. DG- Good point, a lot of it depends on how you look. Most people think my fiance is older than me!
I am older too!! but he jokes about the fact that I look youger and blame it on Chile's amazing water (witch we dont have!! :P)
I'm a year and half older than my fiancee...but I've always looked young for my age (thank you mom!) and thanks to an 18 month deployment, he looks older than he is...so people rarely believe us when I tell them he's older. lol
I'm 5 years older than my fiance. He's 26 and I'm 31. When his guys friends tease me, saying that I'm robbing the cradle, he corrects them by saying I'm rocking the cradle, LOL.
haha I'm almost 4 months older than my guy and he LOVES it. He loves to joke around and call me a cougar and he knows I hate it. I just don't acknowledge those 4 months :)
I'm 14 months older and my FI just loves to tease me, esp during the two months that I'm 2 years older... I can already see how much of a brat he'll be when I turn 30, 40, etc and he's still 28, 38, etc.
ummmmm I'm 34 and he's 25. We've been together over 2 years and it will be 3 by the time we're married. YES i get the cougar comment occasionally when people actually find out the difference...but I don't look quite my age and he looks a little more mature...so it works. The only time it ever comes up between us is when we discuss music and movies. I love 80s tunes and movies and he's being schooled...LOL
I am 4 years older than him and he jokes about it constantly- But I must be something special more mature and all LOL
So glad to have found you all! I've got quite a few years on my guy, and the Cougar word usually just comes from him. When people say I robbed the cradle, I say he crawled out of the cradle and after me.
I'm starting to wonder if ALL guys just find any age difference hilarious. My guy is 6 months older than I am, and he's always joking about his "wisdom" and reminiscing about "when he was my age." He really thinks it's funny! It doesn't bug me, but I don't really understand how it continues to amuse him so much.
2 years and 4 months older. We met when I had just turned 26 and he was still 23, kind of embarassing at the time, and he likes to make jokes about how he was in grade school when I did certain things in high school, or he'll call me grandma when I'm getting really sassy. He looks older though - he's getting a few grays, and I look really young, so I don't mind a bit.
LOL! I want to renew this thread.
We're both young looking, and I am more young looking than him (usually) but I'm a few years older. No one else jokes about it except my younger brother (my younger brother is older than him!).
The only one who makes cougar/cradle robber jokes is my man, and not in front of lots of people either.
@Annui:im two and a half years older and we could care less. Ive gotten plenty of cougar and cradle-robbing jokes. they get annoying but are usually not ill-intentioned and so typically i just ignore them. I do get annoyed when people who dont know us make a snide comment about it. I mean honestly, 2.5 years is a teeny TINY difference in the scheme of things. We are both mature (mostly lol) adults who are on the same intellectual level so why should people make stupid comments at us?

I was curious if any other brides are older than their fiance.
I'm two years older than my fiance, which means my friends have called me "cradle robber" a couple times, ack! I suppose the biggest difference is that I entered school young and went straight to grad school, while he had to go to kindergarten twice due to a move and had to take a couple years off of college to work (he has a half scholarship, but it's amazing how those bills add up!). We met when I was a senior in college and he was a freshman.
Anyone else have an age difference? Or any bizarre stories of people saying odd things about it? It's amazing that it's so expected for the guy to be older but when the woman is older it's such a big deal!
