hahah no idea about your question and yes you were bad BUT SO EXCITING :) yay!
You are SO BAD! But congratulations. :)
I'm not sure whether it was your stone or a stand-in from the store. Did you two look at stones together? Do you think that's something your SO did at the store when you weren't there? It might depend on the store, I have no idea!
He tried to punish you for not cleaning? Yikes!
My FI bought the stone and setting at the same time so when he got the ring all the stones were already in place.
Hope you don't have to wait too long!
The setting is usually empty unless you buy a cz for it. You can check if it's cz by running the stone over some text. If you can see the text, it's probably cz. If not, it might be a diamond
Thanks everyone!! I'm excited either way. It's a step in the right direction :) haha.
@Juliepants: He was going to buy the diamond by himself from another jeweler (or that's what he said at least). When I called him last Monday after work, he basically let it slip that he was at the store (he is so not slick about anything, lol). So he definitely could have bought the stone at the time he was picking up the setting, without me knowing. :)
@BayStateBride: Yeah, that does sound kinda bad! Well I basically sent a tornado of a mess through the place (not sure how it happened, but my ADD/boredom/exhaustion/tiredness/homework may have gotten in the way), and I promised him I'd have it nice again by the time he got back :) He said as an incentive, we can look at the ring when he gets back (and he was going to surprise me by actually buying it instead of just looking). But somehow time got away from me, and I seriously didn't do anything in the way of putting stuff away, laundry, etc. (and I also slept through my alarm on the morning he was getting back). Ahh... Basically, I need to manage my time better :)
@Sutaru: That's kind of what I thought, since one doesn't always buy a diamond for an engagement ring. I am way too nervous about taking the ring out to "test" the stone, though. I can just see a "Meet the Parents" type scenario happening to me. (I drop it, I trip on something, somehow water gets in the drawer, a pen breaks and spills onto the jewelry box, the invisalign packets go EVERYWHERE.....). I just don't think I have the necessary skills to pull it off ;)
Ooooh! I hope he doesn't keep you waiting too long...I want to see some ring porn!
And don't feel toooo bad about snooping...I would probably have done the same thing.
What store was it from? I know there is a local store (Toronto area) that has glass in their rings.. But i dont think you could actually take one home that way..
@windcriesamy: I am going to whore-out my ring as soon as I can!! ;)
@FutureMsVW: Tapper's in Michigan. There are only three locations (two brothers started it up however many years ago). I had previously tried on rings with a girlfriend, and I'm pretty sure it was this store that the saleslady told me they place CZs in for display. But yes, I guess it could be glass, too. I told my SO that I'd be happy with a string lol, just as long as he proposes and we can get married! But he did say that he wanted to buy a diamond, so I've got my fingers crossed that it was MY stone I saw :) :) PS VW are my initials now! I think I will miss them though after I get my name changed, especially since I never got to own a Volkswagen haha, oh well.
I think I need to add a poll... hehe

!!! :) :) :)
But first: I have to admit, I WAS BAD. ;/
Last weekend SO and I went to the store to look at my favorite/in-love-with-it setting. He was originally going to buy it that day, but when I didn't tidy up our place before he got back from his work trip, he was no longer motivated to buy it that day :(.. I somehow, thankfully, convinced him to "just look" with me (he had never seen it in person), and lo and behold, e-rings were 15% off that day! (Yesssss)
Sooo... he bought it, got it sized, and I knew he had it somewhere in our apartment since last Monday. He's not very good at hiding things (he once hid something from me in his night stand LOL), so I knew it could be in only a few places. So anyway, I "kind of accidentally snooped" in his sock drawer (I do the laundry anyway, so it was bound to happen), and I saw a jewelry box behind his invisalign packets!! I resisted the urge to peek (even though I knew it was just the setting), but then tonight I just couldn't help myself. I didn't think he would have bought the diamond yet, so I decided to just take a quick look before class...
The box was sort of upside down and I only had one light on in the room, and I didn't want to move anything out of place, but I was pretty sure (95%) that I saw a diamond! OMG OMG.
During class I could not think of anything but the ring! When I came home, I (again) couldn't help myself, I just HAD to double check! And yes!! Definitely a stone :):) ...I was so excited, however, that I couldn't quite remember how his invisalign packets were distributed in the little separator thing. (Hope I didn't move it around too much!)..
So yes, I was bad!! But I am sooooo excited and giddy that this will happen soon!! I have one question though: when just a setting is bought, does it come with a cubic zirconia usually? Or do they just keep the ring "empty"? I just want to know if it was my real stone or the store's display stone.
PS :):):):):) eeeeee!!!!!! yippppeeeee :) :)
