    Hi bees...

I'm home alone this week while the FH is going to a friends wedding back east.  Anyway, I was locking up 5 minutes ago and there was the biggest spider I've ever seen by the back door...INSIDE THE HOUSE!!!  I freaked out a little, well a LOT before I decided that I had to kill it or else it could end up in my bed.  So i grabbed the spider spray and started spraying and IT STARTED CRAWLING TOWARDS ME!  I screamed and stepped on it and almost slipped.  I'm seriously freaked out right now, but glad that I killed it.  I just needed to tell someone, everyone I could call to commiserate is sleeping :(

Did I mention that I am extremely arachnaphobic?  I'm seriously still shaking...

Oh I hate spiders!! Good job girl! Now relax, dream of dresses, your groom, shoes, dancing, and cakes!! Sleep tight, maybe with the bug spray near by for a safety blanket.

Funny to see this post this morning, only ten minutes after waking my poor FI out of a dead sleep in a panic. We live in northern Wisconsin, and Wolf spiders are common here. Huge, ugly, aggressive, and disgusting! Well, this summer, we have had three in the house, and two hanging out on the porch outside...not to mention the one that was sharing the couch with me when I sat down to drink my morning coffee this morning. I just happened to glance over...and started screaming for the FI. Lol! He used some wasp killer and took care of the issue but my heart is still racing!

Spiders like to come inside in the summer to beat the heat.

We have ginormous spiders here (way up north, one of the only things that survives in diversity are the bugs! ick ick ick!) I have definitely seen some that are like, the size of my palm.

What squicks me out the most is when the wolf spiders get smashed mulitple times with shoes and still.don't.die. They are like 8 legged terminators or something!

ahhh good for you! I have learned not to be afraid of spiders..only because I am deathly afraid of CENTIPEDES! I HATE them!! We get them every so often after it rains (they love moisture). So spiders are nothing compared to them. We get them more often than spiders! I hate it! I can never kill them...I need FI to get them!...ahh hate them!

oh you poor thing...i would have done the same thing.

don't ever come to texas. they say everything is bigger in texas for a reason. i may or may not be terrified to kill these giant insects and may or may not trap them under cups (for days on occasion..) until my fiance gets home to dispose of them.

Good job! Better to kill it than let it sneak away before you can get it. :(

I hate the spiders that are little and black and run really fast. Or the big chunky ones that are outside in the summer in the midwest. They used to be all over the streetlights and even porchlights in Madison..

Funny thing is that in our relationship, my partner is the one who has arachnaphobia! It's the only thing he's really freaked out by.

@LilMissSteiggy: I just woke up and I could have sworn you wrote that the spider was drinking your coffee. Whew! That would certainly be a sight!

I don't particularly have a problem with spiders--sometimes they freak me out, but I personally don't believe I should kill them despite how huge they are--I do however feel you should do whatever you have to do, some spiders can be dangerous if you don't know how to handle them. I usually throw blankets over them (yes they can be that big) and toss them outside. If feel if one must must kill them, do it humanely, spraying them with bug spray is a slow painful death, just step on 'em. The only things that really freak me out are scorpions... not sure why, maybe because they can attack you from both ends!

I'm by no means trying to tell you how to deal with your spiders, but I always had a childhood dream/nightmare that one day those spiders would come back and be 50 feet tall looking to step on us. Yikes!

    Good luck ladies! :)

Eeew!  I absolutely hate hate hate spiders!  I still scream when I see them, but I've gotten really good at killing them--so it's more like a battle cry now lol.  I got the same feeling last night when I squished a fat black jumping spider in my house yesterday.  The only feeling that is worse, is when I've found one crawling on me, the thought of it gives me chills.

@Gabrielle123: Funny centipede story... so, onsens (hot springs) are a huge part of the Japanese lifestyle (getting naked with a bunch of random women freaked me out when I first moved here, but now I love onsens! They're so relaxing! And you shower and get clean before you get into the pools, so it's not like you're all sharing dirty bathtub water). So anyway, I had just finished getting undressed in the changing room, walked in to the pool/shower room, and what do I see but a dreaded mukade (poisonous centipede). Picture a room full of shrieking, hyperventilating, stark-naked women running/dancing about trying to avoid the centipede! Finally one woman picked up the stool that is used to sit on for showering and smashed it to death.
