So my Fiance and I were out shopping, running errands and grabbing a bite. We are LDR so our weekends are chill time. I was backing the swagger wagon out of a parking space and the man seriously tells me that “I will Always Love You” would be a great first dance song. So anyway I just put the car in park and ask him “if he has ever listened to the words” I could not stop laughing hysterically. REALLY??? The song from Best Little Whorehouse in Tx, the classic break-up song. I was so floored I now sing this when I walk by him. I am still voting for Bless the Broken Road by Rascall Flatts (Our relationship has dealt with some trials) so which direction did you Fiance want to go for first dance songs????

I think there are a lot of songs like that where people really don’t listen to all the lyrics — I remember reading an interview with Sting where he was horrified that people said “Every Breath You Take” was “their” song or they told him it was so romantic — as he had written it to describe someone unhealthily obsessed with a woman!
LOL @ your poor guy 🙂

Mine didn’t have an opinion, but his general take on the planning is please point me in the direction of my suit and tell me when to be there. I have always wanted to dance to At Last by Etta James. I know, been there done that by a lot of brides, but I am still going fo it, I just think it is classic. And since my Fiance and I have been together for 11 years it sort of fits the sentiments we heard from family and friends when we told them we were finally making it official… AT LAST. 🙂

@MrsBrightSkies: That’s both cute and an amazing song :).
When I found a song I liked, I did a ton of research on it to make sure it wasn’t secretly about something awful. I think my paranoia came from watching “The Wedding Planner” where JLo talks about all those couples divorcing because their of their first dance songs, lol.
