I bought a sample dress. I didn’t really look too much into it at the time (silly me), but it’s a little dirty (even some missing buttons, but that’s besides the point). How do I clean it? I’m not too sure on what kind of fabric it is? All I know is drycleaning won’t do anything for this sample dress. Help me?

If it’s polyester, some brides have washed in a huge bathtub. If it’s silk (and even if it’s polyester), you can send it to a wedding dress cleaner but it’s expensive and takes a long time to get your dress back.

@marbar: What do you mean by drycleaning won’t do anything?
Drycleaning worked MIRACLES on my dress, I was convinced none of the mess from walking around all day with it dragging on the ground would come out and it ALL DID.
Is there a tag you can check the fabric, that would be helpful to know. Or if you know the style no. you can look it up.

Does it need to be altered at all? Your seamstress should be able to clean it, mine is.

I couldn’t find a tag ANYWHERE! BOO! My seamstress said they could dry clean it, but it has slight sweat stains and dirt stuff that I read somewhere can’t be taken out with dry cleaning.. I wish I knew what it was.. lol I’m going with polyester since the dress wasn’t uber expensive?

I would take it to a dry cleaner. A lot of them specialize in cleaning and preserving dresses, so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t be able to make yours looks brand new.
