If you do it right, you can healthily lose 20 pounds in 10 weeks (or less if you don’t want to lose too much and have to re-alter your dress again). Try Stage 1 of the South Beach diet. It’s miserable for too long, but it does give quick results, and you can always go back to your regular diet after the wedding.

You could definently lose the weight in the amount of time you have left before the wedding. One of my girlfriends hired a personal trainer and dropped over 40 pounds in 3 months. You may want to look into hiring one they can help you with a work out and diet plan.

Drink a lot of water, eat a lot of fruits and veggies and keep away from the refined sugars/breads and pastas.  That is what I did before my wedding, but I am no nutritionist.

ETA: also, you do still have time, so try not to worry! You’ll get there!!

@xshellx2003:

Just google South Beach Diet phase 1- it’s the strictest, and will help you drop pounds pretty quick. But you really do HAVE to stick with it and not cheat or it won’t work. Years ago one of the blogging Bees wrote a whole entry about how South Beach worked for her but I can’t remember which one it was… maybe Toucan??

Try Weight Watchers…I started several weeks ago, lost 3.5 lbs the first week and 2 pounds each week since… it’s the ONLY “diet” I’ve ever lost weight with…and my skin is looking better with all the fruits, veggies and water intake.  You could easily lose in the next 10 weeks!!  It’s 17.00 a month for the online program which is what I’m doing…no sign up fee.

If that’s not something you can do, just drink lots of water and snack on veggies or fruit when you have a sweet craving….cut out white bread, pastas and high calorie drinks and you should be fine.  I did WW because it helps me think twice about what’s going into my body.  When you see that ONE peice of pizza is 10pts and you’re only allowed 30 for the day…you don’t want that pizza anymore!!  lol

It’s just a website where you log all your food points and activity points, it calculates your food for you (like you do with your calculator)  You can type in any food and it gives you the points for it.  Has restaurant guides, recipes… you can type in a certain exercise that you did and it will calculate the points you earned for the workout.  You log your weight and measurements and it keeps a graph of your weight loss

@xshellx2003: The online program gives you access to all the WW materials as well as the points calculator/tracker, activity tracker, recipe builder (i.e. tells you how many points your recipes are), and a huge recipe repository.

Also, the new program calculates points completely differently (it doesn’t look at calories anymore) and fruit/veggies are 0 points.

I’ve lost 10lbs since December (5 of those last week by upping my water intake to 5-6 bottles/day).

I second the south beach. It’s really hard to follow in my opinion (because you really can’t cheat). My sister has lost over 90 pounds on it and a lot of it was in the first month.

@xshellx2003: hey shell, we do a weekly meeting type thread on here on fridays to keep each other motivated….check for it! the points went up because the calculations changed.  a lot of things are more points now (i.e. wine doubled in points- BOO).  you no longer count calories, either, but it takes fat, carbs, protein and fiber into account.

There’s a different website that seems to do almost exactly what the WW online program does. It’s called sparkpeople.com and you track your food and it tells you how many calories, protein, carbs, etc for everything and it includes different restaurants foods too. And you also track your workouts and it tells you how many calories you burned doing them. There’s a forum like this site, which I found helpful and you can join groups for brides too. I would recommend that if you want to track what you are doing without having to pay for it.

But regardless of what you decide to do, you definitely do have enough time to lose enough to fit into your dress comfortably so try not to stress too much! 🙂
