Do people ever ask you if your engagement ring is “real” and what is your response? Do you think it’s rude? I’m not engaged yet, but I’m already having anxiety about that question. I kind of feel like its rather rude for someone to ask that.

It has never happened to me. I would be surprised by someone being so bold and rude!

It’s gotten some looks from strangers, but no one has flat out asked if it was real.

Nope, never been asked that.

I’ve never been asked. Maybe if my rock was huge…but mine is a moderate 1 ct.

yes! haha my ring isn’t large at all, but I guess they weren’t sure if I was really engaged because I’m young (20) epecially at my university, it isn’t common to see engaged students

I’ve never been asked that – even back when I had a “fake” one, I had to tell people that if I wanted them to know!

Never been asked that! I think that may be kind of rude..

Never been asked IRL and yes it is extremely rude! Honestly, I don’t think very many people actually say that, even if they’re thinking it.

I work for a university that caters to 20 somethings that all make the same amount of money (military oriented university). I think that contributes to the fact that I’ve been asked this maybe 5 times. I see alot of young gentlemen that are about the age for marriage and they want to know what they should expect to spend, maybe?

Lol never been asked that, my ring is not big enough to be “fake-worthy”.

I’ve been asked and I just tell the truth. Yes, it is. I guess its a compliment lol.

Mine is 1ct but I have been asked that a few times. One woman remarked that she thought I was lying because it looked too sparkly to be real. Um, what?
Usually it’s cashiers or nail people who ask for some reason….

My ring is not big so I don’t see why anyone would think it is fake. However, I once heard some office chitchat about a coworker’s ring. Then everyone said they tested theirs to see if it was the real thing. I was like……. seriously?? you are having this conversation? at work?

ugh- I think it depends on what size your planning on getting. If someone knows you and your man and would expect you to rock a 1 c ring they might be taken back if you magically get a 2c. It depends on where you stand financially and what size ring ends up on your finger. I wouldn’t worry about being asked this though- I doubt people are that rude.
