I am jumping for joy right now, I’m going to be an “aunt”!! 😛 The funny thing is she’s due exactly one year before my wedding. And she’s my moh..we’ll be celebrating the babies first birthday early, haha!
Anyway, guys, I need your help. I’m planning the baby shower and I know I still have a while to go, but I want to get prepared, as I have NO idea what to do. What kind of venue should I be booking? A regular banquet hall or something else? Is it just a night of games and fun or should I plan some other stuff? Will I need to provide a dinner, or just stuff for people to snack on? How soon should I send out invites? How much does a baby shower typically cost? What type of decorations should I use?
I know a lot of this will depend on my friend, but I just need help with what I should be expecting! Thanks!

Yay! this is so exciting! Well lets see, i planned my sisters shower and we did a sunday brunch type set up. We did it at a resturant but that was because we had a lot of people in our family and our house’s weren’t big enough. I would first work on how many people she would want there, and you can work from there, also ask her what she would want. I would do the shower when she is about 7 months. so maybe end of march beginning of April? and the Invites should go out 4-6 weeks before (they say 8 for a wedding but i think a baby shower is less formal)
keep in mind that it might get pricy if you do it a venue, are you going to have any help from her family (mom sister?) with this?
It’s so wonderful that you are so excited for your friend!

A lot will depend on what your friend wants and how many people are invited. Does she want to invite just women, or women and men? Just women are traditional but you can totally do a couples shower too.
I’ve thrown a shower in someone’s home for around $500 or $600 or something (including feeding 30 people). We priced out the same thing in a restaurant and it was going to be $1000-1200.
