Sorry Mr. bee for the CAPS letters :-)
Well, we have an officially accepted offer from the BANK of the property we put an offer on. The first house we've ever put an offer on! You can see the pics on my orig. thread, but since I can't get into the post to copy the HTML It would take to long to do it again :-)
http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/omg-we-put-in-an-offer-for-a-house-ahhhhhhhhhhhh
SOOOO... basically, our original offer was accepted. They want to close April 1 or 4th (there was a Navy fighter jet flying overhead and my FI missed that part) and they do want to hold 1% in THEIR escrow. We're going to do it, however, we are asking that it is totally spelled out as well as putting in there that if they pull out or cause us to loose the property, they owe us the $8000 tax credit. We'll see how that flies.
So, we gotta sign the papers today, get a home inspector out there, and hopefully that goes smoothly!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEE, I'm SOO excited! I can't believe it! This is seriously more exciting than my dress or anything else that's had to do with the wedding!
On the flip side, I called my mom to tell her and she was on the phone with my dad whose in London and he had some really bad chest pains this morning... his Dr's want him to go get an EKG and bloodwork done at SEVEN pm tonight (london time). We're trying to convince him to go now :-( So, that's kinda putting a damper on things, I'm such a daddy's girl and next to my FI he's my whole world here on earth. (after God of course).
On top of THAT, FI has his annual job review today... they've been telling him all the "plans" they have for him but nothing has happened, we're hoping they can get the ball rolling on a promotion today...
So, we need LOTS of prayers and well wishes! For my dad's health, FI's job, and the house.
THANKS!
Congratulations! I know how excited you must be :) Best wishes with everything.
THANK YOU! We are completely beside ourselves! That this is the first house we put an offer on, that it all almost fell through, and that they accepted it! It's amazing!
ahh how exciting! it looks like such a beautiful house!
and i was keeping up on your other posts and you seemed so worried, so this is fantastic news!
Yay! I've been reading your other posts, and having flashbacks to all the sleepless nights when we were buying *our* house. Congratulations!!!
Congrats, girl! Buying your first home is such an overwhelming, yet exhilerating feeling. =)
I hope everything turns out ok with your father.
Glad it was accepted, but I hope everything is ok with your dad and that your FI gets a promotion!!
Also, can I just say the house looks great but your pictures make it look awesome? I can totally tell you're a good photographer from your HOUSE pictures, hehe!
Omg.. The house is SO Beautiful... I wish I lived there! CONGRATS! :)
Lol - thank you LaborOfLove - and that's just straight out of the camera ;-)
Thank you very much for your wishes for my father and FI (to everyone) and on the house. This has def. been the most stressful part of wedding planning! Miss Pinot Grigio is correct, it's such an "overwhelming, yet exhilerating feeling!"
Oh my gosh, that's going to be so exciting! Except, we will have some time before we can move in while we repair and paint, do floors, etc...
AHHHHHHHH
Congratulations! I bet the excitement is helping to keep your mind off your nervousness about the other things. Best of luck to your father and fiance!
CONGRATS!!!!! So exciting! It's so cute-- love it!
caszos - hows your house doing?
Rosie Girl - Thank you, it's one of a kind in our price range, for sure! We truly were blessed to find it!
jhphi - It really is! As well as the fact that we still need a caterer... lol
Habibah14 - Thank you! For all your support in the past week!
Congrats! I remember your last post and how worried you were. Glad to hear everything worked out for you!!
Dancy - Thanks, It's getting there. We still have a few hoops and hurdles to go! I'm debating when to give my 60 days notice. We'd close the end of March but we'll need the rehab time on the house. I think I'm going to wait until after the inspection, that way I KNOW it's real...
Congratulations! That is amazing news. We are just now starting to look ourselves.
Beautiful home, and prayers for your FI's review and your father's health.
KLP - Our new house is going great. As I mentioned we bought our house AS IS and there were MANY things that needed fixing and updating. Originally we wanted to do as much as we could before moving in, new floors, replace a cabinet, paint, etc. In the end we moved in as is, gave the house a GOOD scrubbing and then started with the small stuff. I am so glad now we didn't jump too quickly with replacing the floors or the kitchen. It really is nice to live in the house for a while before doing any drastic changes. A lot of the other small stuff we did ourselves so it was nice to be living in the house while fixing it.
that is such a beautiful house!!!! congratulations! :) the terrible wait of finding out if your offer has been accepted is now over! lol feels nice to breathe again, right?
We actually JUST heard from the BANK today as well that our offer was ACCEPTED!!!! Woo HOO!!!!
I'm assuming yours was a short sale as well? (since you caps the word Bank, lol) SO stressful waiting 2 months to hear if an offer is accepted, aggg!!!
I'll send you good vibes for your inspection, ours in on Friday!!! Congratulations!!!!
CONGRATS!!! It's a beautiful home!! So happy for you both!!
AnnieAAA - No girl, you have it MUCH worse! Ours is a foreclosure, but it should have taken about 24 hrs not 8 days! The listing agent is incompetent and it's been a real PITA trying to get her to do her job! And actually, 2 months for a short sale is SHORT! lol. All my friends who went with a short sale took 5+ months!
caszos - We're debating floors too! We're hoping to go see the house and measure things tonight... or we will in a day or so with the inspection... but they need either a GREAT cleaning or replacing. We'll probably put laminate wood in the bedrooms straight away no matter what. Needs lots of paint. We are getting ours "as is" as well. We'll have a lot to keep us busy!
YAY! CONGRATS! I've been following your story and rooting for both of you. My Fi's even up to date with your story
I hope all goes well with your dad and your Fi gets that promotion! The house inspection will go well, no worries!
UPDATE on my dad:
He just got back to the flat from hospital. He underwent blood tests, ekg, and stress tests. They compared the results to his last cardiology exam last year and the results are the same, so odds are it's work related stress :-( He's been under a lot more stress than usual because his job in London is ending soon and the position he thought he would get is going to a Brit. So it's looking like he'll stay a bit longer and then maybe possible go to Singapore... which he loves except he's older and doesn't want to be that far from family. I feel really bad for him. It's getting so bad he's thinking of early retirement. I hate that because for 2 years or so he'll be loosing SO Much added retirement, ya know?
But thanks again for the well wishes, luckily he didn't have a heart attack :-(
But, we're heading out to meet our awesome relator to sign papers! Hooray!
Yahhhhh!!
Congrats! I was hoping it would work out! That other thread worried me a little! So glad y'all have a new home! Good luck to your FI! I hope your dad gets better with his stress levels also.
Thanks again! Just got off the phone and it's OFFICIAL! We're ratified and they can't review any other offers! YAY! Our relator is trying to get the inspection for tomorrow... if not then Monday and we'll know for sure if we're getting it!
We also found out, that we're getting free title insurance on top of our closing cost assistance! Every little bit helps!
Thanks again for all the support. I'll update again after the inspection.
Oh yay! I'm sorry to hear about your dad's job though.. but glad it wasn't more serious than stress. Early retirement might suck, but it may help his health, too.
that's what my parents are saying. It will stink, they'll have to tighten up quite a bit (yay for wedding before this!) but my dads health is so much more important. I don't think he'll be done working... I don't think he'll know what to do with himself. He's going to be one of those smart retired people who find some sweet job with less responsibility and more pay... haha
INSPECTION IS TOMORROW!!! ahhh, getting scared again!
