Ok, this is totally ridiculous, but I've been trying to figure out my entrance to my ceremony on the front lawn of a historic mansion for a. while.  Being dropped off by a car just didn't feel right, but the place we're getting ready is on a totally different part of the property so it was my only option.  So then I thought that maybe I could have screens set up or something so that I could hide behind them while the car went and parked, or maybe a small tent, but nothing felt right and it all seemed too complicated.  And even then, the walk from where the car could drop us off, up the HUGE lawn to where the ceremony is taking place on the front steps of the home would take like 3 minutes, which is a long time for people to be staring at a small white speck in the distance.  Enter my solution.  I am going to have a white carriage drawn by horses pick me up from where I'm getting ready, drive me up to the mansion, and drop me off right behind the chairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My girls will get out first and do their walk...then my dad will get out and help me out and we will walk up together.  I am so. excited.  I'm squealing inappropriately at work.  This is a completely unnecessary, totally over the top thing that I would never think of doing because I'm having a fairly simply wedding--but it feels like a fairy tale!  And I feel so lucky!!!!  Anyone else have something in their wedding that they just can't believe they get to have (other than your FI--we all know that we're unbelievably lucky on that front!)??

Wow, that can be really expensive! But shoot, if it works with the budget go for it! That's an awesome plan!

I love it!  I saw this done on "Rich Bride, Poor Bride".  The show and the couple were ridic. but this specific idea was so cute.  Its very fairytale princess!

I thought it might be super expensive, but it's only $400 because my venue has the horse and carriage already on site--I offered to pay for it, but my dad said he didn't mind, so there it is!  That's not crazy expensive, right?

@Sarah Thanks!  Mine's been doing that all morning!  I knew that the Hive would be excited for me on a level my FH could not quite achieve.  Example:

Me: Honey, I get to come to the ceremony in a carriage! :-D

FH: Wait....do I have to ride in it?

Me: No...you can if you want to though!

FH: No, I'm good.  Horses freak me out.

Oooohhhh, mrmdphd...just wait til we get to the honeymoon and you meet the horses I'm going to beg you to ride with me on the beach.  ;)

Where in Nashville are you getting married?!  I'm from Nashville.  And, one of my BM's just got engaged and is looking for a location in Nashville.

@Candy We're getting married at The Hermitage--the smaller mansion on the property, Tulip Grove.  It's a super reasonable price, and the site coordinator is awesome--so if your friend would like a little info from a bride who's been there, I'd be happy to provide!  Just PM me!  I went through the whoooole litany of Nashville locations before choosing this one, so I've got info stored in my head that I hope will be useful to someone!

Thanks!!  I'll let her know! She's just getting started, so she's in that "holy crap, there's so much to do, this is so overwhelming" phase.
