On the hunt for an affordable "all-in-one" venue in Maryland

My fiance and I will be getting married in the courthouse next month and then plan to have a vow renewal ceremony and reception so that we can share our big day with family and friends this Fall. We are on a VERY tight budget so I want to find a location where we can hold both the ceremony and reception that also possibly provides the food and tables/chairs. I also have my heart set on having a space to dance. We both love the arts and I am hoping to find something that has an eclectic feel so we don't have to worry about dressing up a place with decor. Is this an impossible task?

I absolutely love the Corradetti Studio, but it's out of our price range :(

Any suggestions for artsy and unique venues in Maryland for around 50 people?

Where in Maryland are you looking? I'm getting married at the Liriodendron in Bel Air, Md. We are having the reception there as well in July and it's $1500 total for 4 hours (with the 1.5 before and 1 hr after for set up/take down). We're having ours outside, but I don't know if you'll want that in the fall. They do have a portico on each side of the mansion - it's like a covered patio - and I'm having our dancing on that.

They do provide tables and chairs, but not food. They have a list of 10-12 approved caterers and you have to choose one off of the list. I went with Dean and Brown - they are awesome!

You should consider some of the museums. The American Visionary Arts Museum is awesome www.avam.org The Baltimore Museum of Industry also has great indoor/outdoor space (& parking!) www.thebmi.org

You'd have to arrange for your own catering though, but that can sometimes be cheaper than going to an all-in-one place.

My friends got married at MICA...I forget the name of the hall, but if you're familiar with that area it was the original main building (a rather old, historical venue) that's across Mount Royal from the Brown Center (the new glass building)  It was beautiful, there was a huge marble staircase the bride came down, food was served in an ajoining room, and they had dancing as well.  I don't know how much they paid, but I know they were also on a really tight budget and also had about 50 guests.  Here's a link to the office of events http://www.mica.edu/Contact_Us/Contact_the_Office_of_Events.html  Good Luck!

If you are looking for a very unique, reasonable, all in one place check out www.chanteclairefarm.com.  We got married there in September 2009...It is located in deep creek, md but it is absolutely beautiful. The owners take care of it all and you don't really need decorations at all because the place is so eclectic on its own!

Thanks for all the suggestions - all of these places are exactly my style! I think in order to get the atmosphere that we want, I may have to pay for catering seperately afterall. Has anyone done a simple hors 'douevre style reception?

We are getting married at the Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace. B&B, all in one:ceremony, reception, catering, room for the evening and cake! Plus they have an onsite coordinator :-)

I highly recommend the Brookeville Academy - http://www.townofbrookevillemd.org/acad.html They have a great space outside for pictures and possibly a small ceremony, an upstairs room that could be used for a ceremony or dancing after dinner; and a lovely downstairs (that you could probably have room for dancing in if you are only having 50 people).  You can use any caterer you want - I recommend someplace like Mama Lucia's for a classy feel, or Red Hot & Blue for a more casual feel.

We fit 75 people seated in the downstairs, if you are only having 50 and you put the buffet in the hallway, you would have space for a dance floor.  The people are lovely to work with and I think the rental price was like, $500 for the whole place.

Hi  I just booked my wedding at Swan Harbor Farm in Havre De Grace. Im from Delaware and dont know much about Maryland or how far it is for you, but i think its so gorgeous.  I like the country/farmy look and its on the Bay. My friend is getting married there this August and when she sent me the link, I knew this was the place for us.

The rental includes, mansion, tent, table, chairs and security deposit.

Im trying to look for the same kind of venue...we would like to have the ceremony, reception, and would like accomodations in the same place as well. It has been very hard finding something in our price range (which is very low) because we are also only having 25 guests...

I found 2 places I really liked that I am going to visit. Tabard Inn in DC is a great restaurant where you can also have the ceremony and it's an Inn so they have rooms for you to stay in. And I loved The Inn at Leola Village in PA....it is perfect and right in our budget, plus the dining is exactly the colors and decorations I was going to do so I would save alot that way as well!

Have you found any other locations? I plan to visit these next week....but Ive already seen Leola and loved it, I just have to meet and see the ceremony location!

SMW_ We are having a small (40 guest) wedding at the Inn at 202 Dover in Easton. It is stunning. You should check it out. And it's 1 block away from the Tidewater Inn, so there are plenty of extra guest rooms nearby. You may also want to check out the Bartlett Pear Inn, also in Easton. We haven't been there yet, but plan to visit next weekend to check it out as a possible rehersal dinner option. The reviews seem hopeful.

Rockville Manor in Harford County is a wonderful spot. You can use your own caterer and it only costs $700 for 4 hours. If thats too much I have a fancy venue but i won't put it on blast cause you need to rent it through me. All i will say is its in Downtown Baltimore and it's only $500 for 4 hours. There is a view of all of downtown from the venue. This place as well you can bring in whatever caterer you would like. There is $4 parking undeneath the venue as an added bonus.

    @ smwerica-

You could also use my fancy spot that is $500 for 4 hours in Downtown Baltimore. The Tremont Grand is literally next door. It would be great for your event. Please contact me if you want further information.

My sister had her reception at Martin's West and I'll be having mine in Martin's Westminster.  There's also several other location around.  They do food, linens, tables, chairs, and I think they have space to do ceremony and reception in one.  Also, they are pretty reasonably priced.  The director we talked to pointed out that since they are all word-of-mouth advertising, they pass those savings along.  The service from them was awesome at my sister's wedding.

Oh, and you can get the cake and some flower arrangements from them also!

I want to suggest Martin's Caterers too! Martin's in Hunt Valley is really nice. I think that location is the pricest ( $100 per person) but if you go to Martin's east or west I'm pretty sure you can get sit down dinner buffet for $75/person including alcohol. It is hard to beat that!

@sweetc02: You're absolutely right.  At Martin's West, I think my sister paid something like $60 or $62 per person.  I'm paying about $54.  Another perk of having your reception there, they give you a special card, and whenever you are at a Martin's location again they give you a free bottle of champagne.  My sis got one when I took her to a bridal showcase they held there.

Check out Elkridge Furnace Inn... they have sample menus and prices, HOWEVER, they are willing to work with you... if you let them know your price point they are willing to work out a menu and all that with you within your budget... even the alcohol packages they said that can cater to create one that you can afford with things in it you want... and everything is there and included except florist, DJ and photographer...

Grey Rock Mansion has a similar set up as well, and both have deals fo the fall
