Oh girl. Don’t do anything that requires a drive if you get carsick, it is CRAZY there! Tight turns and mountains and roads ruined by hurricanes oh my. I would recommend snorkeling near the Piton. The really are a sight!

i went to st lucia for our honeymoon last year– we didnt leave the resort- (other theb going to and from the airport and to the marina for a night cruise our resort hosted… the roads are scary!! some of the curves were washed out from a hurricane so taxi cabs and locals blindly went around corners where it went from two lanes to one lane and you kinda have to pray then no one is coming the other direction.. i vote stay on ship or go to the resort..

@Nic01:  I was on a cruise once and if we were at port all services on the ship were 50% or more off if that helps you choose

@Nic01:  I didn’t spend any time on the beach out there, our resort was on the other end of the island. We took a catamaran ride to the end with the Piton, but disembarked in a town rather than a beach.

Have you had a look over at the forums on Cruise Critic for further ideas? You can search via port of things to do, very helpful 🙂

@Nic01:  They were really amazing to see. I would do the catamaran ride again, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to get to the Piton if I went back, only because there were other things I wanted to do that we didn’t get to. I’m really glad we got to see them while we were there though.

We went to St. Lucia with Royal Caribbean last November and LOVED IT!

We did the drive through volcano tour.

It started with a drive down the coastline which was gorgeous, followed by a walk through their organic gardens (very pretty and interesting if anyone has interest in plants.  My FI and I both garden for veggies, so we enjoyed the “food portion” of the tour).  We stopped at a couple of nice views to get out, look around, get a drink, and do a little shopping.

We then went through the volcano which is similar to Yellowstone and was really interesting (but smelly).  The volcano was between the Pitons so we had incredible views the entire time we were there.

We finally ended with getting lunch at a cafe overlooking the Pitons.  It was real St. Lucian food and it was SO GOOD!

We went with a group of 9 people and everyone really loved it.  FI and I want to go back to the Island.
