This is repulsive. This group (ONE MILLION MOMS) is trying to get people to boycott JC Penney bc Ellen Degeneres is the new spokesperson. They think the company should fire her bc she is openly homosexual. I am appalled that this group of mostly self-reported "Christian" women would spew such HATE.
When I was reading some of the other posts on facebook made by the group and its members, some also suggested they should get their donations back from Susan G. Komen since they reversed their decision about pulling funding from Planned Parenthood, since Planned Parenthood is clearly evil & only exists to perform abortions & does no good in the world otherwise... UGHHHHH!!!!!! Do we really live in such an ignorant time?
I'm not trying to be controversial, or start a war on here, but really, boycotting ELLEN!?!! Wanting money back from breast cancer research donations?! I just don't understand what goes through people's heads....
Yep, there sure are a lot of ignorant a$$holes in this world! It's sad how much things like this don't even phase me anymore since it happens so often.
This is very sad. I think its horrible that despite how mankind has evolved we still have this high level of hatred in our society. I for one will be sure to shop at JC Penney's more.
yes.... these woman could be putting their time and effort into something useful! I just may have to shop at JC Pennies more often!
Damn it, I was already boycotting Penney's for their mediocity. Now what, I don't want to be lumped in with these people!
They also wanted to boycott anything advertised during dancing with the stars because Chaz Bono was on it. lol They are silly people. You just have to shake your head and laugh at them. They are so not serious because you KNOW they are still going to penney's to get some good deals!
They are ridiculous and are not to be taken seriously...like EVER. They are a bunch of hypocrites. "God says to love everyone..but Ellen because she's just on another level of awsomeness that I can neve acheive, so i hate her!"
we dont have that store down here but i will be visiting the US soon and this makes me want to shop there. love watching her show, she seems a funny and caring person - how can you hate on that?
This really is tragic, "Christians" like this make the rest of us look like bigoted fools, when it really isn't all of us! I hate how they harp on ONE issue and make it the end all... I wish I remember which preacher said it, but one of the big (ultra conservative, hardliners) pointed out that the incredible divorce rate (that isn't different in the rellgious v nonreligious) is a much bigger risk to the family than homosexuality ever will be. SOOO many bigger issues to deal with... but I guess it is easier to stare at the gay log in someone else's eye than worry about the gluttony, lying, adultry, envy or lust in your own.
Guess I'll be shopping at Penney's more. We are registered there! So maybe that will also help. ;) haha.
Jeez, people are ridiculous. Wish they'd find more prodcuctive things to do with their time.
btw i was reading today that the ban on Prop 8 in california has been reversed - congrats California, i look forward to when Australia finally gets with this program
Their children are probably in college and they have nothing else to do.
The hypocrisy kills me. For a bunch of people that are supposed to be uber-religious, they somehow conveniently seem to forget that one of the key principles of Christianity is to love one another. Whilst they infuriate me, the ultra conservatives are like a train wreck - I just can't look away from where the hypocrisy is going to go next. Newt Gingrich spouting family values (hahahahahahaha), 'Christians' trying to keep homosexuals from having equal rights (hello discrimination, have we forgotten the meaning of the word?), and now let's boycott a company that clearly embraces all people... funny, I thought that was what 'religious' people were supposed to do (embracing all people I mean).
Just disgusting.
I find this whole post to be sad on both sides, them for not being tolerant, and this post for not being tolerant. Just completely saddens me at the disparity going on.
Ellen's people released clips for tomorrow's show that was filmed today and one of our her statments (I'm paraphrasing) was something along of, "Isn't it funny that One Million Mom's only has 40,000 Facebook fans?" For the record, Ellen has 9,000,000 Twitter followers--which makes it a little more interesting.
I'm going to make it a point to shop at Penney's now because they kept her. I'm glad they didn't give in the way that the advertisers did with All American Muslims.
Sick. Those "Christian" moms need to watch the documentary "For the Bible Tells Me So." Also, I'm really overly sick of people full of so much hate and intolerance giving the rest of us Christians a bad name.
I used to work at penneys and always love shopping there. I commend them for having Ellen as their new spokeperson. And as for the moms who wanted to boycott penneys? They can shop somewhere else! I don't want them shopping in my favorite store!
I just visited the one million moms FB page. That woman who posts on it is cuckoo!
@eryepye: I know. I was raised Catholic, although I don't agree with a lot of the church's teachings, but I still consider myself a Christian. It is a shame that a few loud mouths can give the rest of us such a bad name - it is not representative of us as a whole but sadly, the silent majority seems to get drowned out more often than not.
@tksjewelry: I GENUINELY apologize if I'm being dense (its late and I just got done with work) I sincerely do, but how was this post intolerant?
@Ree723: Ugh! It's so maddening, isn't it?! I just want to ask people, where is the humility? The open heart? The unconditional love? THAT is what Christianity is supposed to be about!
And you know what? A lot of those same moms in that group will have children that come out when they are older--what will they say then? I hope for their children's sake, they reevaluate their hateful stances and practice unconditional love for their children.
I heard about this last week. From what I understand, JCP had openly stepped up and backed Ellen and their choice. Good for them.
It makes me sad to see so much hate from people over something so small. Ellen is well-known, well-liked and has a wide appeal. She'll be a wonderful spokesperson.
@DeadlyNightshade: I believe TKS is referring to all the talk about "so-called Christians". I don't even think the issue is that this group is a Christian group. I think it's more important to focus on just the intolerance in general rather than their religious status. People like this are usually just using the religion argument to disguise the underlying hate anyway.
I'm not sure what group is worse... one million moms or the westboro baptist church. Regardless, I'm completely repulsed.
I feel so sorry for any of the children of those women who grow up and are gay. I have family members who are gay, and it's not easy for them, even with a loving, SUPPORTIVE family.
Those women are ignorant, bigoted idiots. I think their attitude is very un-Christian.
Let them do what they wish. For every one of them that boycotts, two more people will shop there because of that boycott. I'm very glad that JCP stood by their decision and supports Ellen. I mean, really, how could you NOT love her?!
I may just shop online from them to prove a point as they've kept Ellen on. No time for bigots thank you!
I'd like to know if the One Million Moms group wears makeup, since Ellen is a spokesperson for the largest drugstore brand, Covergirl...
Lol, have you guys been to their website? There's 28 pages of "active issues." Among them?
Television show "Modern Family"
JC Penney
Macy's
Mattel
Jenny Craig
Family Dollar
Kathy Griffin
Target
Dancing With the Stars
Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream
Walgreens
Lane Bryant
Levi's
Zappos
Oreos (?)
Febreeze
Old Navy
Seriously, don't these women ever get tired of being angry about stuff? This group is just ridiculous. It should be called One Million Morons, and I think that's putting it kindly.
@BoiledPNut: Right? Who can hate Ellen? She is so happy and confident of her goofiness!! People have too much time on their hands.
@zippylef: They do consider themselves a christian group. So many of the posters are correct. I myself am Catholic and I find it upsetting that they continue to make others feel that this is what Christianity is about. While I will never denounce my faith, they make it difficult to be Christian in today's society.
I was watching all the hubub going on when they announced Chaz Bono was going to be on DWTS and this group continually tried to get him off the show by boycotting any companies that would advertise during the show. Claiming that Chaz was an abomination to God and family values. I am so sick of hate groups hiding behind a cloak of "religion and family values". It is infuriating and this group needs to stop.
I wonder what Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream did to get on their s**t list. Too raunchy flavor names? And Febreeze?
Just popped over to their website and some of the 'issues' made me shake my head. The Oreo issue (who could hate OREOS?!?!) is that they said "shut the front door" in one of their commercials...Do these people not have lives?
@AprilJo2011: Ben & Jerry's is on a lot of lists because they renamed Chubby Hubby to Hubby Hubby and support gay relationships.
