I think you could totally do it!  But would the lace really be that supportive? I feel like you might be tugging at it regardless- with or without straps.

Love your dress!  Unique and pretty!

I think your dress looks AMAZING!  If you’re really worried about it slipping, I would put the straps in.

I would do a very thin spaghetti strap, because I think a lace strap will detract from the trim detail on the top of the bodice.

I think you and your Mom did a fabulous job and your dress will look beautiful either way.

You can buy the silicone strips that they place inside strapless bras to keep them from sliding down and place them inside the upper edge of the dress. Or use double sided fashion tape.

I think the straps would look lovely, and if you’re worried about the lace being unsupportive, you can alwas sew a stronger strap on first, then sew the lace on top of it.

Your dress is beautiful by the way, I’m going now to check out your other threads 😀

@moonadea:  I use it for strapless dresses and low v dresses all the time. i don’t want any accidental public displays.

If you go with the lace, remember that you could sew a slim strap of a non stretchy fabric under the lace. Make the understrap a smidge shorter than the lace strap and it will provide the support without depending on the lace which may stretch a bit.

Wow, I cant believe you made that!  It’s gorgeous and looks so well-made.

I voted for straps because personally I want straps and don’t want to be hoisting my dress up all day.  And you’ve already shown that you are very handy and I think you’ll be able to pull them off.  Good luck 🙂

I love your dress! I think the straps will look good if you feel like you need to add them, but I wouldn’t want to change it.

I would do a very thin, sheer ribbon strap…I did that with a prom dress, and in most pictures, my dress looks strapless.
