good news I ordered the dress back in february and she came in this month! so excited to say she fits even with a little wiggle room (im down 25lbs from the time i tried on the sample in the size i ordered) take a look at the befores and afters! and yes i lost my butt/boobs *sigh*
barely zipped up and all buckled up everywhere in the sample dress size 12
at this time I was a street size 12 so it was a tight fit even in spanx…
street size 8, dress size 12 (she will need to be taken in quite a bit, i didnt realize how small i would get!!) no spanx needed, peeing will be much easier!

thanks bees! i just wanted to show that it is possible to order a dress too small and have it fit when it comes in (so long as you are extremely dedicated) I was tired of hearing “I cant believe you did that you will regret that” now I get to say “I did it!” yay for personal victories and happy moments 🙂

I’m soooo glad to hear a success story about this! I really, really struggled with what to do about my dress order. If I ordered the dress according to my largest measurement, it was going to be ELEVEN inches too big in the bust, and with a sweetheart neckline / scallop detail I was absolutely terrified that the dress would be ruined after alterations. I had to decide which would worry me more – worrying about a large alteration OR worrying about staying focused with nutrition and exercise to achieve my goals. In the end, I decided facing a huge alteration and worrying about the structural integrity of my dress was MORE of a worry to me. I will use your post as inspiration – it is a DRASTIC before and after.
Do you happen to know how many inches you lost? I have to lose 5 inches off my hips for the dress to fit. 🙂

I did the opposite and ordered mine too big. Well, it was the only size I could get on short notice and it was only one size too big…but it’s been a nightmare. I should have just asked if I could buy the sample instead!

Congratulations on your weight loss! You look beautiful in your gown!!!

Beautiful!!!! I think so many salons stress not to order smaller because SO many people don’t lose the weight they intend to.
I ordered my dress the size I was when I bought it (an 8) and I’ve lost 12 lbs. So I’m now concerned it’ll be too big and HOPING they can make alterations that won’t lose the shape of the dress.
You seriously look great and your gown is gorgeous!

Good for you! I found that some people just like to be downers, You should always do what feels right for you. 🙂 I was a street size 8 when I ordered mine. I tried on a 12 and it fit perfectly so I ordered a 10 because I wanted to lose a few pounds and it fit perfectly when I got it 🙂
I absolutely love the back on your dress!

Thanks everybody! Best of luck to those ordering smaller it made me a little nervous but as long as every week I made progress it didnt stress me out too much 🙂
@amandadawngrace: Im not sure how many inches total but I know I lost 3 from my hips 2 from my waist and 3 from my bust since may (dress pic one is february dress pic two is july)
@Edelweiss: not to worry they told me I could lose another 10 pound aka about one size for me and it wouldnt even be an issue
@romantical: thanks i did it myself as a pre-trial to make sure i was going for a style i would like with the actual dress!
