I am getting married early July, 2014. I am currently choosing my engagement ring online from Blue Nile. I’d like a diamond over 1ct and will have to compromise a few components of the diamond to get this size.
I’d like know know if there is much difference in VS2 and SI1? What if I get a good colour?
Is there much difference in Blue Nile’s ideal and signature ideal cut?
Many thanks to you!

@quick_little_fox: exciting that you are diamond shopping! I recently upgraded my stone from a .75 to a 1 ct which resulted in having to go from a vs1 clarity to si1 clarity. To be honest, I don’t notice a difference. The diamonds are the exact same colour and cut grade, and I actually prefer the look of the 1 ct si1 diamond. Specs are not everything. A diamond with the same specs can look very different. It is important to view the stone, so perhaps look online at places that allow you to do so, like James Allen. Also, GIA reports with diamond plots are great for making sure the stone will be eye clean. My si1 is eye clean. I looked at it under the GIA microscope too and the inclusions were barely noticeable.
Good luck and have fun!

My stunning ring is from James Allen. They have great information available on the difference between VS2 and SI1… My centre stone is a 0.73ct oval cut D colour with VS1 and Good cut. They also have videos of the actual gem, so you can see what you’re getting. Happy hunting!
