I would first search for your dress, then check the better business bureau and look for reviews elsewhere on the company before making a decision to order online.
You may also search the style number and brand for your dress and find a store you can order it from (even if they didn't have it in stock to try on).
The most important thing is to have seen your dress in person before ordering it because it can look really different in a photo and on you!
Make sure you check the fine print on websites because many, many, many online bridal stores offer good deals, but NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES. Watch out for that!
That said, I ordered my gown online and I love it. I got it from J. Crew. The first size I bought hung on me, so I ordered a smaller size, and they were awesome about exchanges. They shipped it back to me for free so all I had to pay for was return shipping. They also have online wedding consultants.

I personally would be very careful about buying your dress online. Even if you like a dress there's no guarantee its going to look good on you and I've heard a lot of horror stories from girls who have ordered their dress online and then recieved cheap chinese knock offs. Do you have a specific dress/designer in mind or are you just looking for a general look. I knew I wanted something specific and I wasn't going to find it in a bridal store so I had a local dressmaker make my dress. It's fab, exactly what I want and made to fit me.

I'm a plus size woman and can't find a wedding dress that fits my style! I've been to 4 bridal shops and have left empty handed! I know the style I'm looking for, and thought I might try buying my dress online; however, I don't know how well I can trust online bridal stores. What online stores have you bought your dresses from? What sites/stores can I trust?
