I had a good experience ordering my dress online. It was delivered on tiime in perfect condition and fit me perfectly. I had mine made to my measurements. I had tried on  a lot of dresses so I knew what elements I wanted for my dress. I picked one that had those elements; so I never actually tried on the original.

@RMBsbride:  I went through Etsy and it worked out perfectly for me. The dress is gorgeous, looks just like the pictures, and fits me almost perfectly. I probably don’t even need to do fittings. I ordered mine from Myaki, by the way, and I love her. One big downside to getting your dress online is you don’t have a store to go back to. So I have to research how to store my dress, find a good seamstress, and either bring it to try on foundation garments or just hope they look good together. But anyway, my dress:

I don’t know if you already went ahead with your online purchase but . . .

Take it from a bride who has BEEN there.

NEVER – EVER – EVER – EVER entrust the most important dress of your life to an ONLINE store.

I KNOW how much you want the dress of your dreams.

But there is a REASON these places are cheap.

I went through HELL with my dress purchase through one of these online shops.

I had to buy a last minute backup dress.

DON’T do it.

They require you pay up front – and if things don’t work out – if the dress is poorly made or doesn’t get to you on time – you have nothing to bargain with and you are OUT THAT MONEY.

Go TRY ON dresses – and buy from a REPUTABLE local vendor.

Buy with PLENTY of time to receive the dress – ideally a YEAR in advance, but no later than 7 months – seriously.

And know that MANY dresses will look beautiful on you.

It doesn’t have to be the imaginary dress in your head.

Buy one you’ve TRIED ON YOUR BODY.

Spend a little more if you have to – but NEVER buy online.

Yes – SOMETIMES it works out great.

But it is a HUGE gamble.

Dont gamble your money – your time or your emotions.

It is NOT worth it.

(I will make an exception that I have never used Etsy but it’s probably a lot safer to use Etsy than some of these Chinese dressmakers – PS lots of places have storefronts but the dress is still made in China, so my general advice is – buy a dress you can touch and feel in your hands.)

a bride who went there – and regrets it.
