So Aug. 25th is fastly approaching and I have realized that this is truely it. No changing my mind on anything as there is no time to make the changes. Of coarse now that means I want to change EVERYTHING.
It started with my dress fitting last week. I walked into the shop and saw a girl who was just finishing up her appointment in an absolutly STUNNING gown. It was amazing and I immediatly got dress envy. It made my dress feel plain and boring.
Then on Saturday I had my hair trial. The hair turned out good, but decided that the look I first wanted didn’t really look good on me (looked amazing on the model of coarse). The I realized how my tiara and veil just don’t have the wow effect I was hoping for. I just looked like I was TRYING to be a bride rather than looking like one. Hopefully with the changes I am making to my hair style it will come together a bit more but I was fairly disappointed.
Then I read a blog on how overdone and tacky mason jar weddings are. I started planning this wedding 8 months ago and had no idea how “in” mason jars were. I just saw a few pictures and thought it would go perfect with our outdoor rustic wedding we were having. Its too late to change to something more original now but I immediatly ran out and bought straws for people to drink from as someone had mentioned they “loved drinking from mason jars and having their drinks run down their chin and all over their clothes.”
Again with only 2 weeks to go I don’t have time to swap or change anything, Im just so worried this isn’t going to be the wedding Ive always dreamed of. But Im trying to remember that at the end of the day I will be Mrs. Black. I will be a wife regardless of how I look, or how the decor is. It just makes me a bit sad to think I rushed a lot of decisions and didn’t take time to really research and make this wedding what I had always hoped it would be. Thanks for listening bees. It is always so helpful just to write these things out and get them off my chest.

I think it will all come together. Your wedding is your own, regardless of how “overdone” mason jars are. You like them? That’s enough! I think straws is a good idea, though!

@peachacid: You can get SUPER cute straws for mason jars! Yes, a lot of people do them, but personally I think they are super cute. If you are having an outdoor rustic wedding they will fit in perfectly! What I’ve noticed from all of the things that are “trendy” right now with weddings is most family members and friends haven’t actually been to weddings where it has been done! Just because it’s seen online a lot doesn’t mean everyone knows someone who did that!
As far as your dress and everything else, i’m sure it will all come together. I’ve had the same thoughts as you that my dress isn’t pretty enough and won’t really make me feel like a super bride. Think about how you felt when you chose your dress and how beautiful you will feel on your wedding day!

I’m getting married the same day as you (eee!) and I was watching Four Weddings the other day, and one of the brides had wedding wands that were exactly like mine. And one of the brides was insulting them, saying they looked like cat toys. And that made me second guess it, but then I just kind of laughed and thought, oh yeah, they do kind of look like cat toys lol. Oh well, I like them.
I’m sure everything you planned you planned for a reason. Don’t worry, it’ll be your day, just the way it was meant to be. 🙂

@Sunshine09: Yay us!! Its gonna be a good day! 😀
And thank you everyone for the reassurance. It really does help! Im sure everything will be fine, and I need to stop stressing out! Now that we are getting so close I think the stress is setting in and im overthinking things. I think with my look Im just being picky about every little thing because what I want the most out of my wedding day (besides getting married of coarse) is to see my fiance cry when I walk down the aisle. Thats my goal! lol. Only 18 days and I will find out!

People say everything is overdone, but how many weddings have you been to in the last two years? Have you seen mason jars at 5 of them? Probably not, and neither have your guests. If it fits what you’re doing and what you guys are all about, people will love it.
Also – go have another hair trial if that’s stressing you. A girl deserves to get her hair done a couple times.

I can totally relate. I’m having major second thoughts about our decision to have a super intimate wedding, but I know deep down it’s the right decision. I just have to convince myself about once a day.

Don’t stress! I promise everything will be alright! I experienced this before my wedding too. At fittings, I saw others and thought, wow, their dress is so beautiful. I started doubting some of my decor choices. I was happy with my hair trial at first, but looking back at the pics, I thought I didn’t look like a bride. Well, I had my wedding. My dress was perfect for me, my decor was everything I ever imagined, and my hair was beautiful! It’s just nerves. Relax, and remember that this is your wedding day. You’re getting married, and everyone is there to celebrate that. Nothing else really matters!

@Alleycat: That makes me feel sooo much better! Knowing that Im not alone and hearing the end result as wonderful as yours makes me feel so very much better! Thank you for that!
I will just have to tell myself once a day that Im making the right decisions and that it will all be ok. I will get through it!

The only people that know how in the mason jars are are brides. Guests usually haven’t seen them used this way so don’t worry. Another thing to keep in mind is that your guests don’t know all you have in mind so if some things are changed or dropped they never know.
