We’re having a very small wedding (~40 people) and invited a couple friends with kids but only one is coming! I’m worried he will be very bored as the reception is a sit down 4 course meal. He’s 10 years old, which seems a bit old for a goody bag with activities so I’m looking for other ideas. I’m hoping he has some sort of portable playboy thing… Or since there’s one kid, is it really his parent’s issue? I just remember being bored to death at my parent’s dinner parties growing up!

I think it’s sweet you’re worrying about him being bored! But honestly, if there’s only one, I think it’s the parent’s issue.

@oliviajane520: why don’t you find something a bit more age appropriate for him to do like a puzzle book with crosswords, word find, mazes, etc. if he’s really bored, i’m sure he’ll appreciate anything to keep him occupied. you can probably find one at the dollar store.

Coloring books, hot wheels cars and little leggo sets are also appropriate and he would probably love.

Our daughter (almost 8yo at the time) was the only child at our reception, but she had a blast just dancing with the rest of the guests, and playing with the glow sticks (they were originally for our send-off, but no one read the sign).
