I tried on my first wedding dress on a whim (I was visiting my parents and thought it would be a fun thing to do since they live in another state). So I picked a dress that looked really nice and tried it on.
I cried my eyes out. It was amazing! I have never felt so beautiful in my life. AND it is within budget.
Fast-foward to now – I’m planning on buying this dress next week (since it’s on sale right now and therefore even more within budget). But I wonder if I’m really wierd for falling in love with the first dress I tried on.
Has anyone else found their love on the first try?

I haven’t but I wanted to suggest to try on something unexpected. What harm can it do? There are so many brides who actually end up with a dress that was the total opposite of what they were looking for, myself included. I have went thru dress regret TWICE and it’s a very costly mistake to make. On the other hand, there is no wrong choice, it’s just a decision you have to make. If you do buy the dress, DONT continue to keep looking at other dresses. It’s just like being in a relationship and having a wandering eye. It won’t end well.

@lindseyl06: Good advice. I have the time (the appointment is one hour) so I might as well indulge in some dress-up fun!

I only tried on one. I knew it was the right one for me. four month later and only 6 weeks until the big day, and I have no regrets!

I fell in love with the first dress, even bought it on the day! I actually tried on another 10 or more in the same shop to just make sure which makes me feel more confident about my decision but the others just didn’t compare. I am NOT a decisive person, but I just knew that I LOVED the first one but I tried to others to make sure and when I bought it I was, and I haven’t had dress regret (yet atleast).
Hope this helps 🙂

I didn’t fall in love with the first one, but I don’t think it’s crazy. Sometimes, when you know, you know. And this is coming from a 2 dress bride since I didn’t follow my heart the first time;)

I loved the first dress I tried on, and over the course of six weeks dress shopping I tried it on, in other colors, three times. I ended up with another dress, which I completely adore. For me, it was seeing myself for the first time in a wedding dress. It was overwhelming.
I’d suggest trying on others, you can come back to this one if you want. Not sure how long the sale is…..

@renwoman: I bought the first one I tried on, too. Sometimes you just know it’s right!
Just don’t shop around after you get it – that’s how the famous “dress regret” seems to start….

My cousin fell in love with the first dress she put on. I think she went in wanting that dress. We (bridesmaids) made her try on like… 3 more but she wanted to put the first one back on and she was standing there grinning and we were all like “ya that’s the one.” She walked out with that model specifically that day. It even fit her almost perfectly. I think she just had it hemmed a bit.
So no, not weird and it can happen. 🙂

Not crazy at all. I bought the first dress I tried on at the first store I went to on my first shopping trip! I had brought some pictures with me, and they happened to have one of the exact dresses. I was not expecting to walk out with that dress by any means. I tried on about 5 other dresses after it, and loved the first one the most. I probably could have spent several days trying on more dresses (and sometimes I wonder if I should have), but I loved that first dress and everyone with me liked it. I think there are probably hundreds of dresses out there that would be “perfect”…there’s not just one…so you might as well spare yourself the anguish…and go with the one you found that you love!
