Okay, we have a venue, we’re going to Kleinburg 🙂
Now I have to find a photographer and there are just SO MANY. I would like to stay around $2500 and I’m hoping some of you bees can point me in the direction of a great photographer that you know/used/are using.

@MsGinkgo: We used Renaissance Studios. They were wonderful to work with and we are in love with our pictures. They do have packages around your price point. We spent quite a bit on photography, and we don’t regret it one bit.

@leembee: they look great, thanks. I’m willing to go over budget on this item for the right photographer for sure. But I do have a ceiling. I find a lot of the GTA photographers have inflated prices, which is to be expected, and include a lot of stuff that we don’t really want/need.

@MsGinkgo: I have an acquaintance that does wedding photography, and she’s wonderful (has done a lot of weddings for people we went to school with, etc.–I’m regretting not asking her to do ours, but that’s a whole other post). She’s one of the nicest people you will ever meet, I swear… so kind, and warm-hearted!
Jill Promoli-McGee – commissions start at $2,300, but I’m sure if you e-mail her, she might have other options.

@MsGinkgo: I believe you can give them an idea of what you want and they can work with you accordingly. I honestly felt like their prices were reasonable after doing a lot of comparison with other photographers.
Whatever you do, make sure you go with someone you’re comfortable with and is reputable. I hate hearing stories of people who are unhappy with their pictures, or worse, don’t get any when all is said and done.

@leembee: that’s what I want to avoid. My sister (and MOH) is a photographer but she won’t be shooting my wedding (she’s the MOH, and I want someone I can talk to professionally without a personal relationship being affected – we always refer to her as delicate, she doesn’t take criticism well). I really want to find a photographer that we’re comfortable with who understands what we want. I’m going to do my homework before booking. I’ve seen so many horror stories (which again, is why my sister, or any of the 3 photography buff friends i have, are NOT going to be shooting my wedding)

We’re using Emily Ding, she’s done our engagement photos and we quite like how they turned out! Her wedding packages start at $750 for 4 hours, so I’m sure you could work out something within your budget.

We’ve had nothing but awesome experiences with these guys.

@M72727: thanks, I’ll check them out!

The photographer we are having:
(she is from the London area/might charge a little to come to Mississauga)
I haven’t been able to meet with her in person but she is VERY talented and super kind right from the first e-mail…(she has a cute little video on her website where she introduces herself!)
All of her packages incl. unlimited photos fully edited on a disk with printing rights and include an engagement session. All of her pricing info is on her website at http://www.captivatingbysarahwest.com/wedding-photography/
The package we will most likely go with is #3. It’s $2,975 and it includes the full day.
I also looked at Renaissance as another option. I am around the same budget as you but you alsways have to look at the value of what you are getting. Anyone I looked at that was cheaper (even by a little) for what we are getting, did not provide the same quality AT ALL.
Good luck to you!! Hope I was of some help.
A few others:
Tara McMullen (pricey, associate photographer Barb is much less, at $2,700+tax for 6 hours. HR photos on USB, images all edited) – this is definitely not as long as above, but if you don’t really care about getting ready photos… then this is a good choice as their photos are AMAZING
All I know is the starting price is $2300…

my photographer is Marcin Moka…. his website is http://www.marcinmoka.com. We got him for about $2000 and he is honestly AMAZING!!! Our e-shoot is thursday and i can hardly wait.
if you look them up on fb, they have way more photos there than on their website
However since we booked him, he partnered up with another photographer and their site is http://www.mokaliphotography.com. I think they charge $3450… but maybe if you request just him it will be less? check him out tho…. seriously amazing. My budgest was $2000 and we had a different photographer lined up but she also couldn’t take criticism and saw that I was having second thoughts here on wedding bee and threw a fit and cancelled on us…
Marcin…. He’d be worth much more than even some of the super pricey ones. Love his stuff

oops their new site is http://www.mokaliphoto.com not photography.com

I’v’e hired Carey Ann from http://careyannphotography.ca/. My co-worker recommended her (she did a friend of her’s wedding). I’m not getting the full day package, so it was under $3000 with tax.
Are you having it at the McMichael gallery? We really loved the setting but knew it would be hard for our guests to get to.

@MrsPhilly: We booked Mokali too! We just had our engagement shoot last friday. Can’t wait to see pictures 🙂
