I am ten days out from the wonderful day and now my body is giving out on me! I have body aches, a headache and a cold-the last three days. Oh bah! I refuse to be sick on my wedding day. Any tips on getting better fast, other than the usual get rest (kinda tough with last minute stuff) and drinking lots of fluids..?

Whenever I chug OJ (A LOT), I kick whatever is about to take me down to the curb. For some reason, it’s failproof for me.

@allisonh: Find a doctor who specializes in holistic medicine. Get a session of IV vitamin therapy (Meyer’s cocktail). That’ll fix you right up!

Maybe some Emergen-C? It’s powdered vitamin C that you can just mix into a bottle of water…or maybe Zicam? I hope you feel better ASAP!

@allisonh: Vitamin C and zinc lonzenges.. chicken soup… rest.. fluids… echinacea (sp?) but make sure it has no interactions w. any medicine you may be taking.

water with LOTS of lemon – pulp and all (i will usually put a whole lemon in ever litre of water. Lots of vitamin C, stay away from dairy and too much gluteny food.

Mix cinnamon and raw honey together and take a few spoonfuls a day. Best before you start to feel the sickness coming on but it works for me!

vitamin C–lots and I’ve heard that rubbing vicks on your feet and wearing socks while you’re sleeping works though I havn’t tried it.
Hope you feel better.

definitely second the vitamin C
Hot water with lemon in the morning and at night
COLD FX!! Like, 3 or 4 a day!
Also, spoonfuls of maneuka honey are supposed to be good, as is eating straight up garlic (although I’ve never tested that theory myself)
AAANNND, Hot/Cold remedies. If you can get access to a sauna, sit in a hot sauna for 10 minutes, then jump into a COLD SHOWER. Do this a few times. It’s supposed to kickstart your immune system or something awesome.

Every. vitamin. known. to man. in natural form of course. All those supplements and pills really aren’t as good as the real thing.
When I get sick I drink orange juice around the clock, eat lots of fruit + vegetables, and drink lots of water. Also, sleep. for. forever. I’m usually better in two-three days like that.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I would go out and get these things, but my fiance has the car and is at work. Looks like it is hot tea and an early night.

@winstonchurchill: +1 on the orange juice tip. But beware OP, if your head cold turns into a stomach thing and orange juice is involved…let’s just say it won’t be pretty.
