Been engaged for almost 2 weeks and my ring is beautiful!
But if it is so beautiful, why do I keep hitting it on everything?? I have a wooden desk at work and I feel like I am knocking it with my ring 100x a day. My heart breaks a little every time I hear it hit something. Anyone else have this problem?

Haha! You have just decribed my life! Congrats, by the way! I have been engaged for almost two weeks and I freak out a bit every time, check it and then feel better.:) I think it is normal and probably just because you didn’t have a ring there before (I am guessing.) Do we get to see this beauty?:)

It takes a while to get used to.
Even I who wore a previous set for over 20 years (I am an Encore Bride) found I had to get used to my ERing (different height, weight etc) all over again, when I first got it.
I banged it around a few times in those first few days / weeks. BUT pretty soon your finger / brain gets accustomed to it, and you mysteriously create a buffer zone around it…
It will happen. Give it time.
Hope this helps,

Haha ya mine does that. The diamond stands up quite high and I cringe every time too. I’m just hoping it gets better with time. See what kind of coverage you can get for damage and you should be good to go if it starts to get scuffed.

It probably just takes some getting used to 🙂 You’ve only had it for 2 weeks.
Congrats! Any pics of it??

@emviamama: oh god I ding mine constantly. That’s what repolishing is for!

You just have to adjust to wearing it. Among other things, I whacked mine into the same door frame, twice. Hard enough to scrape the skin on my hand (of course, my ring was just fine. It’s nice that diamonds don’t scratch!). Anyway, I have no idea why that happened, I don’t normally whack my hand into the door frame and everything else.
But that was the first few months… I don’t whack my hand into stuff anymore. I think my brain has gotten used to the idea that the spatial boundaries of my hand are now slightly different than they used to be. I know, it hardly seems like any difference, right? Surely I was leaving enough room for –a ring on my finger– to fit through doorways as I went through? But maybe we spend the days just barely grazing by stuff, I don’t know!

Sorry it is so big! Yes, it is the first time anything has been on this finger. I just didn’t realize how many times I hit my hand on stuff. Can’t wait for my buffer zone to kick in.

I’ve had my ring a little over a month and I still find myself bumping it around. I’ve already had to replace the diamond because I chipped it when I tripped
OP- One of my good friends has the same ring as you! Hers is platinum and she said it also took her around 3 or 4 weeks to get used to it, especially because she never wore any rings before.

I’ve been engaged since December and I still knock my ring from time to time! I guess I have yet to develop that magic buffer that everyone is talking about… or I’m just extra clumsy! Either way, no damage to my ring, so all is well 🙂
