I love the look of Gable boxes (look on U-Line for some good prices).
Also you may want to include mini boxes of tissues (people cry at weddings), mints, a list of important numbers in case they need to get in touch with someone in te wedding (MOH, BM, DOC ... also the reception venue's number)
If there's a Target near you, check out the dollar section. I saw some really cute mini-tote bags there a little while ago that I'm hoping to use.
Since it's Mackinac Island, any chance you could get boxes that various candy stores there use for fudge? It would have to be one of the larger boxes, but someplace there might be willing to cut you a deal if they can leave their sticker on the box for free advertising.
The Scrabble letters are so cute! The reusable bags available at most grocery stores would be nice -- and something your guests could totally use after the wedding!
I like UB's idea of using fudge boxes -- and if you could throw in some fudge, I'm sure your guests would love it! =)
There's also the option of buying a bunch of wicker baskets.
And, of course, re-usable burlap/twine/tote bags are nice.
Those letters are adorable! I know it's not the most creative idea, but if you can't find another option you love, white craft bags (think gift bags but sturdier) wouldn't look bad. You could print your monogram or something on cardstock and adhere it to the front of the bag, or make a gift tag for the bag that says, "Welcome to Mackinac Island." At least they would be simple and inexpensive. :-)
We're using gable boxes that we found online at buygiftbox.com - but I just went to their site, and they're definitely closed until September 1 (so weird!).
I really like the idea of a reusable grocery bag or something that guests could use after the wedding. Whole Foods has really cute ones (that also come in a mini size):

i would by a big bag of their individually wrapped salt water taffy and put some in each bag. i've seen pretty big bags of the stuff in the fudge shops i think. that's great mackinac tradition!
I found a STEAL for our hotel bags, actually, FI found it. At a discount store (like a Dollar Tree, but not the same) we found these bags-4 for $1.00!!!!!!! They are like thermal lunch bags-fabric outside, insulated with stamped foil lining-they were PERFECT!
In them, we are putting two bottles of water, two flavor packets, fruit snack, granola bars, a packet from the chamber of commerce & coupons to some local restaurants that are within walking distance of the hotel.

Hey bees :)
I already have picked out all of the contents for my OOT bags but need help with WHAT bags to use and where to get them.
I want them to be simple and classy but am open to all ideas.
My OOT bag contents will be:
-Maps of the island (mackinac island) where we are getting married
-Bottles of water
-Gum
-Advil
-Salty snack & sweet snack
-A wooden scrabble rack with letters spelling out "true love" like the one below (as seen in Martha Stewart Weddings this month!)
-A welcome note printed that says "Enjoy your stay, with love Leah & Stephan" or somethng similar to that on nice cardstock in our wedding colors
and maybe a few other things? I'm not sure...ideas/thoughts on that as well?
