The bags from IKEA sound better than the grocery store ones to me, just because of the name-plastering. Unless you have a store that's is so typical of your location, it might come across as being really cheap. You can't find even cheap linen/cotton bags online cheaply? Because you could totally dress up a blank canvas...
I just google "blank tote bag" and "blank canvas bag" and came up with jiffybags.com, selling canvas bags for a little over a dollar. They won't be as high of quality, but they'll look nice.
I think that if you OOT bags you can pick whatever you want. Don't you leave the OOT bags at the hotel/in the rooms for them? I think it would be cute to keep it local, plus you would be supporting your local grocers, always good.
We did this! I actually bought mine off a Classified ad on here! They were grey, and smaller than a regular sized bag, but still made from the same material. We were able to fit a magazine, two bottles of water, some hot chocolate packets, some playing cards, and some snacks. Perfect! They were probably 9"x4"x12". I have ~35 leftover if anyone wants to buy them!!
i think either one would be fine. i could always use some more bags to use at the grocery store. but a cute ikea bag would be nice too.
You can buy reusable shopping totes online that don't have anyone's name on them! That way it doesn't look like you have a sponsor for your wedding, a la Star Jones! Here's a link:

The honeycomb and bicolored ones are LESS than $.99 a bag, so it'll cost you less money and you can personalize them with a stamp!
I was thinking about ordering some online or even just cheap canvas tote bags. That way the bag is part of the favor as well. Everyone is starting to bring their bags to the store which is a good thing!
Canvas bags would be nice. The only store bags I really like are the Target ones, I had to get one because they are so cute!
We used cheaptotes.com and I think our bags were 99 cents each. No names on them, and they were sturdy enough to hold multiple bottles of water in addition to all the other snacks we added.
I plan on using re-usable bags from Whole Foods - bought a bunch last year for $1 a piece and they are more stylish versus some from other places.
I just looked at Whole Food's website and they have the lunch version of the better bag for .79 a piece!
Michael's has some really cool striped ones as well for a dollar. They are actually vinyl and quite cute.
Check out your local craft store. We have a place called Pat Catans and they have reusable gift bags, (much like the grocery store bags,) except in all kinds of colors and only 99cents! I was thinking of using those for my OOT bags as we will be on the beach, but the local touch would be cute too!
If you aren't trying to go with a material bag, I got cute paper gift bags at the dollar store 2/$1. They were the same material as a brown paper bag but were red. I wrote the guests names on them with a silver sharpie and tied a bown with brown satin ribbon I got inexpensively at the craft store. They went well with our fall theme and were extremely inexpensive. They were sturdy enough to hold two bottles of water plus plenty of snacks.
I'm using the canvas bags from papermart for our OOT bags! I'm using a zippered bag though... but I don't need that many. I'm doing one per couple/family.
I think any bag is great- as long as it doesn't have a company logo on it :)
I see you're from PA, do you have a Dollar Tree nearby? (They're also online!) Wait until the summer stuff comes out. Last season I got the cutest beach/tote bags with pockets on the outside there. I ended up buying a case throught the website and to save on shipping had them shipped to my local store. The only problem with the case was the colors were assorted but the price was right and i decided everyone wouldn't want the same color anyway!
The Ikea bags are like 3 feet long and 3 feet wide. You'd have to put a whole heck of a lot in those! lol

OOT Bags seem to be a popular topic right now. About half our guests (approximately 30) will be coming from OOT so I need quite a few bags. I've looked at bags online and they all seem so expensive, I was wondering if people would think I was cheap if I bought reusable shopping bags from a local grocery store? They're only 99 cents and pretty sturdy. Would they add to the local touch or would they be tacky? If I do this, I would probably get them from Wegman's which is a more upscale grocery store in our region.
Did anyone else do this?
I've also seen cute 99 cent bags at Ikea and they don't have the store name plastered on the front, maybe those would be a better idea?
