Many of my friends at college have started to ask me about when I’m going to have my bridal shower. We all just had a friend get married recently and had a blast at hers so I think they are more excited and pushy about it than normal for that reason. However, there is a slight problem.
I’m getting married in Minneapolis, MN where I grew up but I go to college at Iowa State University more than 3 hours away. Both my Maid/Matron of Honor and bridesmaid live and go to school in Minnesota and will be hosting my family bridal shower up in Minneapolis. I didn’t think having a shower for my college friends was a big deal, but now I feel like I should have one. I don’t want to be gift grabby and host my own, but some people already bought gifts (don’t even have a registry yet either). For the record, my Fiance and I did not have any sort of engagement party and we got a lot of flack for that with college friends.
So I guess I’m looking for suggestions.
Do I host my own party for my college friends and make it no gifts?
Should they just be invited to my hometown shower that they won’t be able to go to?
Should I just not care since I’m not supposed to be involved in shower planning anyways? (I tried to stay out of it but my Maid/Matron of Honor is my younger sister and she is always asking me about these things and having me make decisions)
