Opinion on a wedding dress

Honestly, for a purchase in that price range, I’d want to see some actual references from former customers. Have you done any online research into that shop?  It may be worth a quick trip to see the shop in person (if they will allow it), as $500-600 on airfare and $200 for a hotel room for a night may be money well spent if it either prevents you from buying an expensive dress that ends up not being well-made, or puts you in the shop in person where you may be able to negotiate a better price.

To me, I’d have a really hard time going into that price range for a dress, but it’s your budget so you have to decide what you’re comfortable with.

The link to the pic isn’t working. If you find out that they do great work and you think the dress is worth it, go for it! Save yourself the time and stress of having to make it yourself.

Do I think that gown is worth $2600? The fabric and work hours probably add up to that, yes.

Is it worth it as far as style and beauty goes? not in my opinion. Looks like they dumped a whole armoire full of costume jewelry and fabric scraps on it.

I understand the idea of wanting a flamboyant gown, but it’s just soo soo much. The underskirts are pretty, but I would remove all the junk from the bodice (bows/brooches) and most of the embroidery from the skirt. And maybe do it in a softer color without so much crinkle and shine (maybe a matte tafetta in pale blue or pink).

If I could make something like this myself, there’s no way in heck that I’d pay $2600 for it, but I understand if you really don’t want to do all that work.

I wouldn’t want the stress of making my own dress no matter how capable I might be. I do think you should check out the shop first, or at least ask them for references that you can contact.

I hope everything turns out the way you want it!

Babsy:  First od all, Stella de Libero is Japanese specific and getting her dresses overseas is very hard to do. Also, to remake this dress will be a huge downgrade unless you understand couture sewing and technique. Also, to ship the dress overseas would be incredibly expensive on top of the price.

Secondly, why spend two grand on a dress for your second wedding, that is a cery high price for just the dress alone. They are amazing dresses, but not really meant for American weddings.
