Opinions needed.. Our ceremony location is half a mile from the reception venue (in brooklyn — so a straight 8 block walk – no hills etc). Do you think i need to organize some sort of transportation between locations for out-of-town guests? or another idea was to just organize cars for our grandparents/eldery etc and then let everyone else use their good strong walking legs or hail a cab? there will also be a lot of people driving so they could possibly catch a ride.. what do you think?

Women will be wearing heels. I am sure they would appreciate some type of transportation. I certainly wouldn’t be able to walk 8 city blocks in 4 1/2″ heels.

@noritake22: I agree. If it’s in the budget, I’d provide some sort of transportation.

Let them get there themselves. When you go to a wedding in two different locations, does the couple provide transportation? I have never been to a wedding/reception that was in one location and we have always driven ourselves to the next location. HOtels do provide free shuttle service so check that.

They’re in brooklyn, which means most won’t have cars 🙂 I would provide something.

How is everyone getting to the Ceremony in the first place?
If there is anyone who is taking public transportation, you should find out before-hand so you can arrange transportation. You can’t leave your guests to fend for themselves and try to “catch” rides, what happens if someone gets left behind and has to walk by themselves? I’d be pretty pissed.

I would check into the hotels transportation. Many times they offer free shuttles for those guests that are staying there. Another idea is to check into renting a van or two. I wouldn’t leave your guests fending for themselves, especially if they are from out of town, parking spaces are limited, or they’re elderly, etc.
