I am torn. Doesn’t help that I’m generally indecisive, but I am 50/50 here!
First, pictures of my venue:
Completely bare – exposed wood and brick, concrete floor, lots of windows, high ceiling.
My initial thought was black & white (with a touch of red). I want it to feel city and loft-like.
We’re going to have these white paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling (stolen from a photographer’s blog):
I LOVE the paper lanterns, and I feel like they give it a whimsical feeling… so now, my issue is… do I go with ‘Whimsical’? Or more ‘City’?
Whimsical – almost backyard-ish feel:
Centrepieces with lots of light
More “City”-like, lofty-like.
Thanks so much everyone!!!

I can’t decide! I think your space would work beautifully with a loft style decor, but I adore whimsical themes.

I voted for city loft. I think black and red would look amazing in that space!

I voted for city loft but to be honest I would do something more contemporary that black white and red.
Black, white and green(not including damask)
black, white and purple

Ooh – Steamwhistle! I didn’t recognize it until @leembee mentioned it! I went to a rocking event there once… don’t remember much of it but it was a wild party!!
What a cool venue! While I love the whimsical idea – I think your original thought of city-loft would work best in the venue.
