SO I posted some pics before looking for some opinions and ideas on my house...

I have been wanting to redecorate my bedroom ( but our budget is small right now bc of all of our other projects ) but me and my husband cant agree on anything for the bedroom So it has just been the same since i moved in with him except for new bed and new bedding. I jsut feel the bedroom is so blah and so dark and dreary... I hate being in there

So i have been searching for maybe a new bedspread & curtains  to go with the colors we have but brighten it up a bit... ( i am ok wiht the orange and brown but it needs to feel cozy and more style)  and new wall decor  specifically something over the bed

SO what do you think honest opinions because I am not sure I love it ... but its the only thing i have found that I liked so far that has not been really dark or way more than i want to spend

(its hard to tell from this picture but in the leaves it has a similar burnt orange color that is one of my walls)

THIS IS WHAT MY ROOM LOOKS LIKE ... What do you think would that be better or worse than the all brown zebra set?

( i Am also decluttering it... And rearranging the furniture and doing away with 2 little pieces of it  (moved the dresser to a different wall on the other side of the bed... the chest of drawers  in the corner where the small bookshelf is and placed the tv on it... Got rid of the tv cabinet and the bookshelf... and placed the small Night stand where the chest of drawers use to be....)

Also since the computer has to stay and my husbands idea of an upgrade from a hideous ugly broke down recliner he had as a computer chair was a plaid love seat (which was actually a huge improvement bc it is super comfortable & we sit alot together and watch shows and movies online. I have a chocolate brown slip cover on the way for it .

ALSO while I have you here.... I really Like the idea of a canopy like this(love this room actually love the gray) mainly bc I have always wanted a canopy bed since i was little and this is a more grown up version I guess... We have a King sized bed and no headboard... what do you think about something like this? would look good or no?? And what do you use to make it just curtains and curitain rods? Sheer or opaque material?

I really, really like that comforter set. Where is it from? I'm not a big fan of the canopy, but what about a huge fabric covered headboard? I've seen them made on HGTV and they don't look hard to do at all, and seem to be pretty inexpensive. Something like this:

I think the headboard kind of anchors the bed, and then you wouldn't need any wall art.  But, I'm also a headboard girl and have an obsession with them.

I personally lovvvve the bottom set more. Why can't you paint your walls grey? That's my dream bedroom :) I'd sub out the yellow for a peach or cream though.

I really like it.  I prefer it over the zebra stripes. Please post the after pictures, would love to see them.

I am re-doing our master bedroom this weekend. I am painting the walls a medium gray and this is the bedding we got as a wedding gift.

The new bedding would definitely lighten it up more...does it have drapes in the same print? Lighter curtains would also help and freshen it up.

The canopy is on 2 rods, but it also looks like you'd have to buy the fabric/panels to go with it. The one on the wall is through a pocket as is the one on the ceiling. Do you have a source for it?

I Love the gray room as well.. Would love to paint the room gray but All of our furniture is brown.. (mismatched at that .. hoping one day husband will let me paint it black it is all hand me downs from his parents and grandparents though so i dunno) The carpet is also beigh  color I just dont know that  Gray would work in the room... I definately wouldnt go with the rest of the house as there is alot of browns and neutrals and warm colors.

It does have a curtain set that matches it but I wouldnt be able to use it because it only comes with one complete set and I have 2 windows

I definatley want a headboard preferably an upholstered headboard I have hinted at this severals times along with reupholstering our kitchen chairs but husband just says with everything else we have going on now we dont have time to start anymore projects till everything is completely done

NO source for the canopy just found that pic when i was googling bedroom ideas I think it said they DIY'ed it though

Yes new curtains will be a must too.. Apparently I am comitting a huge decor crime by having to short of curtains LOL.... but husband likes them dark bc sometimes he sleeps during the day so I was thinking of doing a dark curtain with sheer panels underneath sot hat way if he is sleeping i could draw the dark curtains closed

Are you handy? Making an upholstered headboard is simple. All you need is a piece of plywood as wide as the bed, foam or batting to give it some cushiness, and fabric....a staple gun and glue gun are all you need. Its just like wrapping a package! You can even have it leaning up against the wall behind the bed without attaching it if you want, but its better being screwed into the bed frame. You can tuft it, add buttons or any kind of trim if you want...you could even cover it with the curtains that come with the bedding and have a cheap designer look. :)

Its more of the Cutting the wood and hanging the headboard that would be more of the problem.. I know the actual construction is pretty simple... I will talk him into one day for sure ...

@napabridekelsey: I totally agree about painting the wall a gray and then the second bed set! It is amazing!

@FutureMrs.Harless: I love white in a bedroom. You could paint the brown things black very easily. My mom is an interior designer and does that kinda of stuff a lot. It is cheap too! For that awesome canopy you just need black rods for windows and thats it. It is pretty simple and I feel like there are probably tutorials all over the web for that.

You could do a dark blue/grey and keep the brown. Our room is a color called Himalayan Eyes and we use that color of brown for the headboard, curtains, etc. It doesn't feel dark in our room anyway.

the top set is good, but but grey/white/black/yellow is awesome. painting is easy and cheap! or if you don't want to commit to black furniture, you can keep the brown while you paint the walls!

Hanging a DIY headboard is easy. You justt rip a 2x4 lengthwise on a 45 degree angle. Screw one to the wall and one to the headboard.  Then hang the board onto the rail .
