I have been creeping on your site since I got engaged on Christmas but this is my first post and wedding is a month away!…I’m just wanting some unbiased opinions…
At first, my FI wanted a yellow gold band. So we went to the jewelers together and I told him to pick out a ring he really likes and wouldn’t mind wearing forever. He then told me he has always liked yellow gold with rubies (now rubies aren’t significant for us as far as birthstone, or anniverary date- just a stone he likes). We found a band with three small diamonds they were able to switch to rubies. I’m hoping it is what he wants. I picked it up a couple weeks ago.
I took a picture of myself wearing it because I wanted to see what my sister thought of it. I was talking to her and my cousin when I showed them the picture. My sister didn’t understand why he would want rubies since there’s no “significance” for us. But I said it’s what he wanted and I really want him to be happy with the band, especially since he did such an amazing job picking my set by himself. My cousin mentioned how it looks like a class ring, and “are people even going to know he’s married?”
So now I have this seed planted in my head and I’m worrying about it for some reason. I know I shouldn’t, since it’s what he wants. But now I feel like since other people aren’t liking it, he won’t like it…
Thank you in advance!! I just need someone to ease my mind.
Sorry for the poor quality of the photo, but here it is:

“are people even going to know he’s married?”
If he’s wearing it on his ring finger.. yes, people will know he’s married. It looks great to me, and I think it’s sweet he wanted something with stones!

I think it looks really cool and if people don’t realise that a ring on his ring finger means he’s married then they’re stupid. Also, so what if rubies aren’t special to you… my e ring is a sapphire because FI liked it and bought it not because of anything else.

I like it! And it sounds like it’s what he wanted. 🙂
I agree with PPs. If he’s wearing it on his ring finger, people are going to know he’s married.

i like it! what does your cuz mean? he wont look married? just cause there are small rubies in there? its what he likes! its what you like! there are so many non-traditional wedding rings/e-rings out there and for someone to say people wont know if hes married is silly. to ME it looks like an obvious wedding ring. my friend loves tanzanite. no significance for her – none to him. does her e-ring look like an ering YUP. do people know shes engaged (or just wearing a cocktail ring on her finger) who cares? she knows shes engaged! her friends/family knows shes engaged. she loves the ring, so does her FI. that at the end of the day is all that truly matters. sorry for the rant!

Thank you for your input, ladies! It’s been bothering me since I showed them the picture, but you all have definitely put my mind at ease!

Even if he doesn’t “look married,” your husband will still act married & fend off any advances from women that are somehow mistaking a couple rubies on his ring finger!!
I’m so glad he got what he wanted & you didn’t try to pressure him otherwise 🙂

lilkatgrrl: it kind of looks like my dads wedding ring, and no one has ever questioned if he was married or not. people are dumb lol

There’s nothing wrong with it. He won’t be the first man with stones in his ring. On a related note, FMIL hates FI’s band. No big deal.

lilkatgrrl: It looks like a wedding band to me. Hell, my husband doesn’t even wear his ring! So don’t worry about your cousin saying that folks won’t know he’s married based on HER opinon of the ring.

The only opinion that matters on this is his. It’s HIS ring. End of story. Rubies are significant because he likes them. That’s all any one needs to know.

Your FI’s band looks awesome with rubies, which is what he wanted. As PP stated, his opinion is what matters, since he will be the one wearing it.

you’re cousin is an idiot. If he is wearing that ring on his left ring finger no one will doubt that it is a wedding ring.
