My niece, who will be 11 years old at my wedding, is going to be a junior bridesmaid. I am having a difficulty on deciding what she should wear.
My Bridesmaid or Best Man will be wearing Bari Jay 555 in Tulip color.
Do you think this dress is appropriate for an 11 year old little girl? I’m not sure about the sweetheart neckline? My neice is tall & lanky and not developed in the chest area at all. Would the sweetheart neckline look okay? Or would it look like I’m shoving a little girl into a womans dress?
Also, most of the Jr. Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses that Bari Jay makes in chiffon are short and my girls are wearing long dresses or the styles don’t match up at all. If she doesnt wear a Bari Jay dress, then I have to find another dress for her to wear – which won’t match. I am doing shades of coral (including light coral, peach, and light pink) with hints of pale aqua throughout the decor.
Here are my options, please let me know what you would do!!
1. Bill Levkoff – would be pale pink but this dress is kind of plain:
2. Bari Jay – tulip (matching BM) dress & sash:
3. Bari Jay – tulip (matching BM) – but there aren’t any floral details on my or my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, so would this look out of place on the Jr Bridesmaid or Best Man dress?
4. Bill Levkoff – the top of this dress matches the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress the most, but the color wouldn’t bc it’s a different designer, so I would order in pale pink.
Thank you so much. I greatly appreciate any & all comments 🙂

I share your concerns – I don’t think the dress in the photo is appropriate for an 11 year old.
My personal opinion is that you should match the colour and not worry too much about the style being a little different. I think the floral details (dress 3) stand out a bit much, and also the sash (dress 2) depending on its colour. Perhaps dress 2 with a sash in not too different a colour?

I like #2 in tulip – no accent color, all the same as the Bridesmaid or Best Man color. Like the previous poster, I would go for matching the color first and then picking the style second.

@paula1248: & @NAvery: Thank you! I’m thinking #2 with the sash the same as the dress? I hope that would look okay since I cannot change the color in the picture online!

Any other opinions? Any help would be appreciated!

Definitely get the tulip Bari Jay junior bridesmaid dress – the other would look awkward, and not be appropriate. People do not expect JBMs to match perfectly with the others, and that dress complements your BM’s style well.

I don’t really think bust development needs to be a factor, after all there are plenty of full grown lovely women out there with A or AA chests. One of my bridesmaids is a Dirty Delete and the other is an A and they were both able to find a dress thaht compliments them both. I have no issues with a dress like that for an 11 year old, if you’re concerned about her showing skin maybe only giver her a bolero to wear with it to cover her shoulders?

I would agree that a sweetheart neckline isn’t so appropriate for an 11 year old. I voted for the similar bodice, but it was close between that and option #2! I think either would look great 🙂 Maybe ask your niece which dress she likes better?

I also vote no to a somewhat plunging neckline for an 11 year old. I like #2 or 4 for a jr Bridesmaid or Best Man.

What if you got the same dress as your bridesmaids and see if they could add some little straps to it or something? either just spaghetti straps, or a little cap sleeve made out of the extra material they would proably have to trim off the bottom would make it a little more appropriate while still keeping it the same! good luck!

ya i agree the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress is too mature for an 11 year old. Def just pick a different dress in the same colour.

I think the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress could work for an 11 year old- if she was able to try it on it may really help. It is all how you feel though– these dresses were worn at a friend of mine’s sisters and I think they look fine (ages 12 and 10 i believe ) For the reception they did have spaghetti straps attached on. Just for som reference.
I also think the one with the flowers at the bottom you posted would look nice since the flowers will overall match the dress and your wedding colors

I guess I am old fashioned but I don’t think it’s appropriate to put an 11 year old in a strapless dress. I picked #4 because it’s similar enough to the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress but it has tank top style straps which I find appropriate for that age. My sister is that age and she has to wear a bra so I would be uncomfortable with her showing 11 year old cleavage in public; it’s just icky because to me because I know there are weirdos out there that would perve on it.
