I planned on a more formal / traditional wedding gown look but wound up going in a totally different direction. The island / beach setting seemed to call for somethings dreamy and flowy.Opinions on my dress for elegant beach wedding... : wedding Dress3 I hope it looks beautiful on the big day! The designer is making a cathedral length veil to match.  Opinions welcome Smile

Pretty!!  It looks pretty sexy with how that model is walking, but I think it will be super romantic and dreamy, perfect for your beach wedding.

Just be careful with that slit- I'll be wishing for "no island breezes" for your wedding day! ;)

The dress is exquisite but are you worried about the wind blowing it open more than you would like and the sunlight showing your underthings?

It's a beautiful gown and will go with your setting beautifully, I'm with the PP's though I would probably be worried about that slit.

I think it is gorgeous as well, but would also be worried about the slit if it were windy.

Ooh that's a very sexy dress!  I can totally see this on the beach with the wind blowing and having that slit sliding around to give hubby some peeks of skin :D

Thanks for the opinions!! Yes, the wind was a consideraton. The dress has a lot of construction underneath where things should stay put (hopefully). There

is a lining that starts just above the slit and shaped to strategicaly cover "everything" and it basically does not move.

This is me in a sample which was much too small but you can get the idea of the look. Opinions on my dress for elegant beach wedding... : wedding Dress7

The dress is beautiful but honestly to me it is very very sexy.  Not sure how any older guests will feel about seeing you in the dress. I honestly am a bit uncomfortable but I am older so probably just being old fashioned.  You have a lovely figure though.

@StephanieP:  I really like it.  But I have to agree about the slit.  Nothing wrong with it, just would worry about wind etc.

I think it's really very pretty and unique though :)

IMO a slit that high is not wedding-appropriate.  But it is a very pretty dress and you do look great in it.

very pretty!  I would either tape the fabric down or sew it in place so you are not reveling anything you don't want to...

Thank you , I agree aboout it being "sexy"  Thats not what I had in mind but my fiance

loved it over all the other gowns. I asked him if it was  too revealing etc but he insisted

he loved it.  This is a second wedding for both of us

(over 40 btw) so the whole thing is much more relaxed that a big formal affair. This sample

is small  so I am popping out of it more than my dres will be too. I am very tall  so the dress in my size will have more fabric so i took that into consideration too.

It is not the slit even but the fact that it is pretty much see through.  If the wedding is during the sunlight hours you will show everything - if you are ok with that then rock it and feel beautiful :)

gee! why all the negativity? :(

i think it's a neat-o dress! yes, it's flowy with a big slit, but it's the beach (people wear bikinis there!), it's a more-casual second wedding, and i think it's totally fine and appropriate if the bride thinks it is! people wear wrap dresses and sarongs sometimes for beachy weddings, so i don't think this is any different than that! a wedding can be a casual or sexy as the bride wants! there are some pnina tornai gowns that show way more 'actual' skin than this! (wind or no wind!)

i love this very unique dress! and if your fiance' loves it, then woohoo for y'all! it is very beachy, very delicate, and i like it a lot! :)

Thank you all for honest opinions!   I have taken all of your comments into consideration-that's why I posted!!  One more pic of me in a sample. In person it has a floatier sense than the photos which defintiely Opinions on my dress for elegant beach wedding... : wedding Wdress1tones down the sexiness of the slit- when it comes in we will adjust the  slit height and sheerness etc if needed.

Thank you!!  The designer is Ines di Santo from her spring /summer 2012 collection.   She selected this (said a romantic beach wedding was what this gowns design inspriation was to begin with) She measured me herself and then drew me a beautiful sketch of me in it.  The whole experience was such a treat.

that last photo of you is amazing!!! :) rock it, girl!

if you are truly worried about the wind, you can easily get some 'booty shorts' or 'boy shorts' that are made to be cheerleading briefs... they sell them at any sports store, and they come in nude. (i've worn them before for a short dress that pulled up when i sat down... didn't want to sit my booty on a chair without there being something in between the dirty chair and my booty! haha)

That's gorgeous! I don't think the slit is too high, it's lower than typical shorts I would wear and this is on the beach. I wouldn't wear this to a super conservative church ceremony, but it sounds like you're not having that kind of wedding. Rock it ;)

Honest opinion, you look amazing that dress but I think it is more appropriate to wear it in the honeymoon suite as opposed to the ceremony. It is practically see through with a high slit and the wind issues alone have been brought up. You seem 100% certain that it is the dress you want and in the end that is what matters. Just remember guests won't say "Beautiful ceremony love the lingerie!" to your face. So you look great in the dress, you and your fiance LOVE it but a great deal of people will think it is wildly inappropriate for a bride. At this point you know (I hope) that you look amazing so really it is about whether or not you are comfortable with what guests may be thinking but not saying (to you I go to enough weddings to know the guests always gossip amongst themselves).

Thats what you need to consider but looks wise you have the figure for the dress!

In my opionion (and I know I'm going to get slayed for this) but HONESTLY yes it is a really pretty (sexy dress) and I LOVE the idea of it....but in the pics of the sample dress is just something about the top that looks '' unfinished'' or ''poorly made'' about it. other than that you look great in it!!! and im sure you will Kill it in that dress!

I actually don't find it sexy because it's too revealing. I would have the slit altered to start just a few inches lower.

i think if you are comfortable with the slit and the see-throughness then rock it! and pray for no wind. I love it, it is beautiful. but the only think I saw was the poof on the shoulder. Maybe it was put there to distract the elders from the high slit?

    @anotheroneofmany:  Amen!

@StephanieP:  You are rockin it! I believe others may be slightly jelly... maybe not, but I didn't have a slit in my dress and this makes me wanna slice it right up the leg! hah! I love it, especially for a beach wedding, just throw some bikini bottoms underneath and then who freakin cares if the wind blows (:

Although I can see why you and others are associating this dress with a beach environment, I personally think it is much too sheer, and the slit is far too high, to wear it as a wedding dress, even if that is what the designer has intended it to be.

Now, if you were having a beach wedding in which you and your groom and all of the bridal party and guests were wearing bathing suits under really nice/fancy beach cover ups (so that you could later just peel them off and leave them at your seats while you go play in the surf), then I think this dress would be perfect! I also think it would make a very glamorous piece of honeymoon lingerie, just not an appropriate bridal gown.

I respect each persons taste-I realize its not the traditional looking wedding gown at all. I was planning on more classic wedding gown style.  The slit will be lower than on the runway (they made it higher for the drama) I am very tall with long legs and the sample was not long enough and the tightness overall made the slit  higher. There will be more lining to the bottom part than the sample as well. The top is not see through at all and i will have a one piece bra/undergarment too. It will certainly make the worlds most expensive nightgown for those who felt it belonged in the bridal suite LOL. As far as what guests think that has no bearing-plus I have a fashion /theatricalbackground sothis is not out of the ordinary for my circle of guests. I am still nervous about the decision like any bride and will probably have to have a back up in case this is a disaster.

I apologize if my comments offended you.  I think we all undertand it is a couture gown (not lingerie) but since it is very different you will have to understand that it will not be to everyone's taste, especially not the average bride.  You know yourself, your FI and your guests and if you think it is perfect then wear it and know you will be beautiful.

I did not see any comments here that were sparked by malice or jealousy.  Mostly people concerned that you might not be comfortable wearing a sheer gown.  Please do not take offense to anyone - they were just being honest and trying to answer your question on "what is your opinion of my dress"
