I need your opinion please. In my culture engagement rings almost don’t exist and I am no different. My fiance gave me an option to decide whether I want an engagement ring or not and i said no. Mainly because it has never happened in my society as well as his and also because I am just not a jewelery person. I however, wanted my wedding ring to be a bit on the wow side and definitely have diamonds in a platinum setting.
Fiance said “get what you want I will pay”. We then started looking for custom jewelers and designed our rings. I just could not find what I was looking for at the regular jewelry stores. I ended up with this BEAUTY:
Please don’t get me wrong I really love my ring, but the picture below is what makes me a bit worried since the ring seems a bit high for my liking. I do not like the rings with diamonds protruding hence I wanted the center stone to be put between the bands. This is a picture of my ring from the side/front and back.
Please make me feel good about my most expensive purchase of my wedding so that I can wear it with pride for the rest of my llife.
I was not aware when the jeweller sent the sketches that it will be a bit higher than I thought. I have thought of havnig some engraving on the sides so that the height can seem intentional but I was told that might ruin it since it was not incorporated in the design from the beginning.
That being said, I do not have any more money to spend on this ring and I refuse for fiance to even think about it.
I love the top view of my ring so much, but please help me love the sides as well.

Keke84: I think it’s beautiful! To me, the side view doesn’t look too high. I think it looks like a pretty normal height, overall, and it seems the center diamond is well protected in the setting. Is it comfortable for you? As long as you don’t feel like you are hitting it on everything or worried about damaging it, my guess is that you might get used to the height of your ring from the side.
It looks beautiful on your hand!!

Keke84: It is a pretty and unique ring. I think as long as it is comfortable for you to wear, I would not worry about the height of the sides. Since the center stone is not protruding then it shouldn’t catch on things which is a plus.

LOVE it. So unique, and not too high at all. Congratulations!!

I think it must need to be like that to hold the stone otherwise I’d of thought the stone would poke up at the top. How long have you had it? my solitaire is set really high and at first I felt really sick about it. I thought it looked silly and would be impractical. But now I love it. Sometimes it just takes a while to get used to something that feels a bit unusual to you. Your ring is beautiful I hope you’ll grow to love it

Keke84: I LOVE it! And also, regardless of the side height, I don’t think anyone even looks at that other than the wearer. When I look at someone’s ring or they show me their ring, I see the view of the top of the ring. Really love how unique your ring is!

longtimemrs: Thank you so much for your response. I haven’t really worn it apart from checking it, so I am not really sure about comfort since I’ve worn it only for a few seconds. I’ll get to wear it on the 4th of October. I really like the protection the center stone is getting and your assurance that the height is normal makes me even it even more!!!
emstar168: & MissCaraMia: Thank you so much!!
MsKaren: I bought it in the first half of 2013 and it has been sitting in a safe waiting for 4 October 2014. I told my fiancee that i think i will just need to get used to it. Its only 5 months left. I can’t wait!!
nawella: Thank you so much!! U really made me feel a lot better.
Thank you all for the responses i really feel awesome after this. I think I will not stop stressing and start enjoying my lifetime investment.

I absolutely, positively LOVE your ring. It is not too high at all! Oh wow – it’s the nicest ring I have seen online. Enjoy it and congratulations!!

This ring is AMAZING!!! I think the height looks fine and the main thing is that there is no stone popping out which is going to make it really comfortable. I suppose once you start wearing it you could give yourself a break-in period where if you’re still not getting used to it you can go back and see about getting it lowered? But I agree with MsKaren that the height might also be because that’s how tall the stone is.
Anyway congratulations!! Once again it’s an amazing ring! I also am not sure if I want an engagement ring and with a wedding ring like that, who needs one! 😀

Oh – Nearly forgot – the designer would have to make it a certain height so the culet of the stone doesn’t touch your finger. It really is a lovely height, not at all over the top – just right.

I don’t think it’s too high. Very beautiful and unique ring you got there 🙂

I just purchased a Vera Wang rose gold thin diamond band and it is designed high. I just love that about it!!! I find it showcases the stones better and just looks more flattering on the finger. Your ring is stunning! You have to love it!
Here is a pic of my band:
