I don't think they're cheesy, but I do think they would be just the right size and height to block the heads of the people sitting across from you.
Can you suspend them either higher or just place them on the table? I myself would go for a less traditional (not red) color, with maybe red flowers at the base for tradition.
That's true about the lamps blocking the view. I'll have to have it made higher and/or lower than eye level. Will use different lantern colors other than red as suggested. Thank you, all for your insights!

My wedding will be during the Chinese Moon Festival. So we'll be having an outdoors wedding with Chinese catering. I'm debating between the more classic look of votives or these chinese lanterns. Are these centerpeice lanterns too cheesy?
