Okay so I’ve done my share of dress shopping. I had it narrowed down to four but couldn’t commit to any of them. I pulled a different Mori Lee off the rack, tried it on and ordered it. A day or two later I freaked and told them to put it on hold. It was very similar to the below dress however the skirt had a couple diagonal pick ups and then it stopped and was plain down to the bottom and that bothered me. The back also didn’t have anything too special. I just felt like it wasn’t a wow dress.
I keep going back to this dress and am going to make an appt to go try on. It has the body in the skirt that I like as well as the beading etc that I’m looking for. I believe it may have the most of what I want in a dress. The one aspect in question is the bottom two layers of the skirt. Does it look too structured or funny? I know in the end it will be how I feel about the dress but not having tried it on yet I’m curious of others opinions;

I’m not into dresses with bottoms like that but I do think it is a pretty dress.
I wouldn’t wear the strap on the one shoulder because when I tried them on they made me feel shorter and I’m 5’11”!

I tried on this dress and honestly the bottom is what got me. I kept turning my head at it like a dog hearing a whistle. It’s like it doesn’t fit with the rest of it. I think if it was one tier it wouldn’t be an issue. My sister had suggested having them tuck the top straight layer in order to change the way it looked, but they I found the dress I actually wore, and so I didn’t have to do that.

I feel like this dress has every single current trend going on in one dress: pick ups, ruffles, one shoulder, fit and flare, ruching, corset, draping… to me, this is way too much. But WHO CARES WHAT I THINK!! you know? You love it? Hunt it down and try it on. Buy it if you love it!

I completely agree with this poster in regard to her saying it has a lot of trendy things going on, BUT moreso I agree with the fact that it doesn’t matter what we think! If you love it, then go for it!

@KristenGotMarried:Ha, you are so right, it does have it all maybe that’s why I was wanting it cuz I do tend to want it all 🙂 You may be right tho, maybe it’s too much. Ugh.
@Klb5882: Funny that you say not to go for the strap, I actually really liked it but never thought it would make me look short. I’m 6’1″ and I actually think the dress I put the deposit on makes me look short 🙂 (pic below)
@mwitter80: Oh no!! Funny how I chose this one because of the skirt but now I’m wondering if it will bother me.
I’ve posted these before but here goes again. The first one is the one I wish the skirt was like. The second is the one I put the deposit on TERRIBLE pic and I think the top pick up fell on the sample because it’s not how the model pic looks. I just can’t get over how the pick ups just stop and then the rest of the skirt is plain.
I just wish I could combine tops and bottoms of these dressed 🙁

@vicozzie: I don’t think it makes you look short! I can tell you are way tall.

I like the one you chose originally. I like the way the pick-ups stop before the bottom. It makes the dress look less like a down comforter like the pick-up crazy ones do!

After seeing the modeling photo you posted, I like the second gown, personally.

@vicozzie: If I’ve understood it right, I like your dress, the one with the jewel detail.

I like your original dress best

Oh boy now I’m getting confused 🙂 Really you guys all like the dress on me better than the model ones? Huh go figure. The skirt bothers me and I wish it had more going on or at least or at least didn’t just lay flat at the bottom under the pick ups but now I’m confused!! 🙂

@vicozzie: Yep, love the one you’re in, WAY more than the model pic. If you want to make the skirt more ‘interesting’, have you considered a colored crinoline? Even if you go dark ivory or dusty rose pink or something it’ll make a huge change! It doesn’t have to be bright red or anything.

i’m not crazy about pickups and I dont see them as a “current” trend. But overall the dress is nice. i prefer it without the one shoulder strap

I like the 2nd dress better.
