OPK Confusion

Are you only testing once per day?  I know for some women (myself included), the LH surge is actually quite short, so if you aren’t testing at least twice per day, you might miss it.  I’m not sure how the digital ones work, but I know for most it is recommended that you actually don’t test with FMU, because you could get a false positive (due to highly concentrated urine).  When I used OPKs, I would test late morning and late afternoon/early evening.  So, it’s possible that your positive from this morning was a false reading (due to the high concentration of LH in your urine after waking up), and that your surge actually occured yesterday morning (or overnight).  Keep an eye on your temps over the next couple days and you’ll have your answer – if your temperature keeps going up, you did indeed ovulate yesterday.  I do often have random spikes that don’t indicate ovulation, though (so if it goes back down, I’d keep on testing!).

MrsMarie:  i would BD right now to cover your bases, since i cant see your chart i cant verify your theory of ovulation.

You need to test in the afternoon (2-3pm is the best) and twice a day. I usually surge later at night so if i test at 3 it will be negative, by around 7 it will be positive and i will ovulate the following day.

MrsMarie:  Either way it looks like you’ve had good timing! So, yeah, if you can BD today, I would, but if not don’t stress about it too much.  The OPK results from today do have me scratching my head a bit, because from everything else on your chart I would have said you ovulated yesterday.
