Ok bees, this question is going to sound kind of dumb I know. So I got a positive OPK at around 8 am this morning. When is the ideal time(s) to bd?
On the tests it says “anytime within the next 24-48 hours” – for some reason this is really general and confusing to me.

Um, if you got a positive this morning, you should be BDing right now. Many ladies though only have a positive for a short time on actual O day. If you are one of those, it’s a bummer, but you’ve already missed most of your FW. The best days to BD for conception are the 3 days before O and on O (also throw in the day after, just in case you O later than it looks). This is why keeping track of your CM is also really helpful.
Good luck! FX its your month.

Typically you ovulate anywhere from 12 hours to 36 hours from a positive OPK so it’s best to start BD as soon as it’s positive because you want to make sure you hit at least 1 day before O and O day.

I tend to ovulate at least 48 hours after my first positive opk. This cycle it looks like I didn’t ovulate until at least three days after my first positive opk, which is annoying, as Darling Husband is super stressed at the moment, so cant really do BD every day on demand. FF site seems to be down at the moment, or I’d post a pic of my chart, but look’s like I’ll only hit O-1 or O-2 this month 🙁

Ok thanks everyone – I wanted to see what your interpretation of the “within 24 to 48 hours” was. We were already doing every other day BD, and will try every day for the next little while, but I just thought that if it was a major rush to do it after the positive, why don’t they have that in the instructions? Hopefully the night of the positive, the night after and the night after that will be ok.
Also, I took another one this morning just to see, and it was also positive. Is that normal or even possible???
@pink_sherbert: Ah too bad. I understand the stress. Hopefully that will do it! I hope that I ovulate in the next couple of days, as Darling Husband is leaving to go out of town on Thursday. But I don’t have any real way of knowing because I don’t chart. I wake up too many times in the night to have a steady temperature I think.
@Mrs.LemonDrop: I’m not sure that just because it’s positive then it’s your actual O day though. I think it just predicts that O will happen in the next couple of days? But at least we do every other day BD just in case, so hopefully I will be fine.

@MademoiselleL: I didn’t say that. I said many ladies get their positive on their actual O date – not all – including myself. I got a + 2 days before and had -s in between.
