Hi ladies! I was wondering if anyone has heard of or done Orange Theory Fitness? I just joined the other day, but it’s super expensive ($90/month for 2 workouts/week) and I’m hoping it’s worth it. My other question (if you’ve done it) is how accurate the calorie count is? So far, I’ve only burned around 430 calories during each class according the screen. Both times I went, I was working really hard. On the treadmill, my speed and incline was always higher than the people around me and my final mileage count was much higher too. My heartrate always seemed slower than mostly everyone elses so I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it. I’m about 125 pounds and 5’6 …I’m just confused about how the calories are calculated. Any input would be great!

You don’t weigh that much, so I think that might be why you weren’t burning as many calories. If you’re pretty fit already, that could explain the lower heart rate.
These are just guesses, though. I have know idea how the Orange Theory thing works or what it is.

I’ve personally never done it but I have a male friend whose a bodybuilder and he loves it. He’s “totally addicted”. I didn’t realize it was that expensive! Seems like an awesome workout though. Not sure it’s worth $90/month…

citysparkle: I’ve done it a few times and I liked it. I’m not sure if I want to get a membership though because it is expensive and I’m afraid that I’ll get bored with it. I’d love to hear whether or not you think it’s still interesting after going for a while.
I’m willing to bet that the other people in your class weren’t as small or as fit as you and that would explain your lower heart rate and calorie burn. The smaller you are, the harder it is for you to burn calories. As long as you are pushing yourself, I wouldn’t worry too much about that 🙂
