I am trying to figure out where in the timeline to put our father/daughter dance – here is my idea, but I’m not sure if it sounds weird.
I’d like to have my father/daughter dance first, then towards the end of the song, my husband will cut in and my dad will hand me off to him for our first dance. I kind of feel like it is him giving me away in a sense. At our church ceremony, we are having the officaint ask all 4 parents ” will you love and supoort ____ and ____ in their marriage, during the good and the tough times”. I do not like the “Who gives this woman…” bit, to me that’s signifying I am property which I am not. Since there’s no opportunity for my dad to officially “give” me to my husband during the ceremony, I thought maybe starting the dances with me and my dad, then my husband cutting in at the end and then we segway into our first dance was a good way to do it. Kind of like a last dance with daddy leading into the first dance with hubby.
As a guest, would you think it weird for the father daughter dance to be first?
TIA for any input.
