Do we have to do the first dance, then mother/son, then father/daughter in consecutive order?
I was thinking of having the first dance and then breaking for dinner and THEN doing the parents dances.
Is that okay?

I like parent dances first, then the first dance! Since you’re starting your life together and all.

Oooh, I love the first dance and break for dinner. It might work out better with our photographer also. Thanks for the idea!

- Wedding: October 2013 - Hawks View Golf Club
We entered, cut the cake and went straight to our first dance. After dinner we did a “Throughout the years” dance for everyone who was married and then got all the guests dancing. After a few songs, we went to the parents dances. We didn’t want there to be a BUNCH of slow dances at once so I highly recommend breaking in between. That’s what my DJ recommended as well 🙂

@icanhearyousmile: The last few weddings I’ve gone through split up the dances like that..and it worked out good 🙂

@icanhearyousmile: It’s your wedding and you can do it however you want. We did them in order but we did the mother/son and father/daughter dance at the same time, to the same song so guests only had to sit through 2 dances and not 3. Going in order got them over with and opened up the dance floor to everyone else.

We did ours after dinner and we did First Dance, then Father/Daughter, then Mother/Son.
