What is the right way to order your bridal party? I don't want to offend anyone esp since one girl is my FSIL

I'm not particularly sure if there is one. From the weddings I've been to and the brides I've talked to, it's usually a height issue from shortest to tallest or tallest to shortest sans the MOH and the best man who stand closest to the bride and groom.

If there is an order, I think it usually goes from least close to the bride to closest (MOH)?

I went from the length of time i've known everyone. I didn't want to offend anyone either, and it was a nice, "safe" bet, versus placing my friendships in priority. I didn't want to do height, b/c my shortest bridesmaid is a close friend of mine that i've known since i was 5 and i felt it was a slap in her face (she actually FLEW in from my wedding and my other bms were local) to do that to her. We're too close for that so i went with length of time! It went over the best and I even had my friend/bm tell me i was lucky i had a "safe" out b/c i'm in her wedding, too, and i know she's struggled with where to put us.

We're doing a reverse order of how long we've known each person. Most recent friends together, then friends we've known a bit longer, childhood friends next and then MOH (my sister) and BM (his brother).

i have a pretty dramatic height difference between all of my girls (between 4'10" and 5'11"), so with the exception of my sister (my MOH) the girls will proceed in tallest to shortest, and then my sister... that way during the ceremony, they will all be able to see over the person if front of them. i think it should work well and then during the recessional they will be matched with the gm in the same height order, that way my 4'10" friend won't end up walking out with our 6'3" gm!

Like thefuturemrsjewell, I have a big height difference between my girls too...from 4'11 to 5'9. Two of my BMs are 4'11 and then my MOH is 5'9 with the other two BMs. I'm going to have them walk in shortest to tallest I think....and my MOH goes last because she's the tallest and because I know of all the girls, if I have a last minute need she'd be the best person for me to have at my side. Of course, that means the other girls won't be able to see around her.
