When we got our invitations I got all teary eyed. We were just both in awe at how nice they looked and we just couldn't believe we are finally getting married (after 10 years) so it was a really nice moment for the both of us.
Hahah, I think I cried at how much the darn things were costing me! But seriously, it didn't seem official until the invites were ordered...then all of a sudden, a light shone down from up above and was like...ding...you're getting married! =)
It's def an exciting moment!
I'm in the process of proofing mine to send to the printer, and I keep reading them. And asking FI to read them to make sure there are no mistakes. And asking my mom and dad and sister to read them. And co-workers. I guess that comes from being in an editing industry, but yes, I think it maybe goes into it all being a little more real now, and I don't want to screw up! Last night I was obsessing over "five thirty" versus "five-thirty" and FI was saying "five twenty two, fiiiiiiiive .... seventeen" just to make me laugh.
My FI also makes funny jokes, and is the primary cheerleader. While I was texting him my mini-panic attack (which was mostly about fear of an editing mistake, although the designer will go through everything, and I will get proofs...) he was texting back "Hooray! Invitations! Hooray!"
(FYI, I did "half past four." No idea why - just saw it on an example and blindly copied it, I suppose.)
I printed and proofed our STDs over and over - and that was just a single page! And made FI read them too. I'm sure that proofing the multiple crazy pieces and parts of the invitation ensemble will be nerve-wracking.
yes, had the anxiety- check on their shipping times- mine took longer than expected for engagement invites and that sucked.
Oh yeah - well not on my invites as I made them myself...but I've been doing it on everything else. In fact, last night I woke up from a dead sleep in a panic on what color wedding cake I ordered.....lol.
I can't wait to see them when you get them back!!
definitely clicking "i agree" or "enter" makes it real - i'm sure receiving them and sending them out will be another "here we go!!" moment!
what's the ETA for your invites?? exciting!!!!
too bad i had mine pre-printed for what was going to be the feb 09 church weding - guess i should have double checked with the church on how long they were gonna take with the annulment?!?!? oooops my bad!
Proof pdfs got to me in less than 24 hours - wow. I have a couple of comments on the map, which I will send back today. They say 3 - 4 weeks, but rush service to cut that in half is something ridiculously cheap like $50, so I may have to go with that.
Anti-Zilla, my FI is all indignant about your situation! He can't figure out why the Catholic church would care if he's really divorced, since they wouldn't recognize the Lutheran marriage in the first place. (Never really married, why annul?) An over-simplification, I know, but it cracks me up every time he brings it up, because it can really get him going!
I had the same "OMG" moment too! Once I clicked on the order now button, it finally felt like it's written in stone and there's no turning back! ![]()

Okay, I just ordered my invitations. Does anybody else have a little moment of panic just before/after you click to send the order? Somehow actual invitations make it seem so official.
