I selected a designer, a fabric type, and a color and am telling my bridesmaids they can select any style dress they want. However, I have two bridesmaids that live out of state, and another that was asking if the dress could be ordered from an online retailer. My question is if its the same brand, will it matter where they buy it from? I was told it won’t be from the same color lot, but then others told me that is not a problem anymore and something bridal shops tell you to keep the buisness.
I want to make it as easy on the girls as possible but don’t want the colors to be different.
Has anyone done this?

@Sugarbee711: My bridesmaid ordered from 3 different stores – I couldnt tell a difference at all!

@Sugarbee711: I was just coming to post the exact same question! My maids are in 2 provinces/3 cities. I was worried that ordering them seperately might make a difference too.

@Sugarbee711: does anyone else have any experience ordering dresses from different places??

I did this for a friend’s wedding and it worked out completely fine. We just ordered the dress at the nearest retailer!

They can’t guarantee the colors will match because the fabric is all from different lots. However, this is also the case for most warehouse bridal stores. It is only the more expensive boutiques that can guarantee it. That being said, just because they can’t “guarantee” it, that doesn’t mean they won’t match- I have no idea how consistent the fabric is in different lots.
We actually did get our dresses from a small boutique that can guarantee it, because I got my dress there and they gave them a really great price. I do have an out of state bridesmaid, so we are having the dresses come in extra early so we can ship the dress to her so she can get it altered near her. Had I not gotten such a good deal there, I probably would have just taken the chance and hoped that they matched

I was told when looking at Amsale BM dresses that we needed to have all the girls order from the same store so that each dress was made from the same dye lot. We didn’t end up ordering them, 2 girls are in IL, 3 in AZ so not sure if they would have been slightly off if we had ordered from different stores, but from what I’ve been told it’s safest to order them from the same place at the same time…Good luck 🙂

I was in the same boat! I picked out designer, color, and narrowed it down to about 6 dresses for my 3 BMs to select from, each wearing something different. Trouble was, their local bridal shops didn’t have the style they picked. They ended up sending me their measurements, and I ordered all 3 dresses for them at my local shop. When they arrive I’ll mail them out to my BMs so they can get alterations done. I paid for the dresses up front and my BMs will be reimbursing me, but we did get a quantity discount.
I was told the same thing about dye lots, but it wasn’t that big of a deal to me if one dress was a hair lighter than the others. I was more focused on having my girls wear styles they liked.
