Have any of you bees ordered your wedding dress from a website that ships out of Hong Kong? YEARS ago, one of my sisters did this and her dress was perfect!! I am leary, but then again $1000.00 off a dress sounds wonderful!! If any of you have some advice, PLEASE share.

Honestly, most of the dresses in David’s Bridals and similar stores are bought directly from Chinese factories. The factories present tons of styles and then the stores buy and stock the ones they want…so it’s probably a great idea 🙂 Skipping the “middle man.”

I’m most likely going to order a dress from China, simply because they have designs on their websites that are either unique to them or discontinued designer styles.
I think the most important thing to remember when ordering from China is to be open minded about things. They might not use the exact same appliques or lace pattern that the original designer chose, etc. The other thing to remember would be to go with a place that lots of people have ordered from on WeddingBee so that you can see their work to ensure that you’re not going to end up with a dress that’s going to need hundreds of dollars worth of alterations to fix things that are off, such as necklines, pleats, replacing cheaply done embellishments, etc.

I actually ordered mine off of ebay from a dress maker in China. I liked that vs a direct website because you could see feedback on their previous sales and the buyer protection. I was so incredibly nervous. It’s crazy to think that you can send them specific measurements and it come out just right. But my dress came in absolutely perfect. It fits and looks great. But like lindseylouwho said you should have an open mind. The lace and beading aren’t exactly the same as in the picture, only slightly off. But I like mine just as well. Oh and another cool thing is that you can give custom directions. I asked for the neckline and backline (v back) to be certain heights. I just gave inches from the collarbone. It turned out beautifully.

Most dresses are made in China anyway, so buying a dress from China is not necessarily risky at all. Just check out the reviews for the site/store and make your decision from there.
