all of my bridesmaids live out of town, so rather than trying to get all of us together i'm leaving the ordering up to them. if you aren't doing that, you can get their measurements and then order them without everyone being together. i've heard it takes most places about 12 weeks to have bridesmaid dresses ready, so you should probably order them soon.
My wedding's in May, and I'm having them order now, because of the fracking Chinese New Year (I'm mostly irritated because the bridal shop I went to didn't warn me, I totally understand why they do the holiday and all). But if it's not till July, you honestly should be fine waiting a bit longer. As long as it's before mid-March, I wouldn't stress. One note, if you can have them find local seamstresses instead of using the bridal shop, you may have better luck. They won't be dealing with it being "wedding season" so much, and will probably work with you more. I know the lady making my dress said she once made (from the ground up) 4 bridesmaids dresses overnight.
Oh, and also, my girls are also out of town and ordering themselves. I think they're actually all ordering off a (reputable) website, for price reasons. That might make it easier to get them to get measured and all. They just have to get measured at any generic dress store, and then send in measurements. And let me change that estimate to as long as it's this month. The math part of my brain totally misfired on the mid-March >_<
My date is July 18 and the bridesmaids dresses were ordered last week. We went with dresses by Dessy and are expecting delivery in early May, so you should still have some time depending on the designer you are looking to go with. It took me a while to get everyone rounded up, but it seems to have worked out! Good luck!
Just placed the order last week...had to wait for all their sizes before finalizing the order. One of my BMs couldn't get sized, so we took a chance and ordered her dress based off the measurements on Ann Taylor's website. An AT dress she bought recently fit her perfectly, so we just used their size chart. Hope it works.
My wedding is July 18th (as well) and we havent ordered ours yet. They are Amsale and they told us we could order as late as April.
For my sisters wedding we wore Vineyard dresses, and they told us it would take like 6 months or something insane like that. FYI... I think it only took about 3 months to get them in.
My wedding is in July and we ordered our bridesmaid dresses in December and they came in the middle of Febuary! We ordered from David's Bridal. They were great! I agree with someone else, I would look for someone local that can do your alterations, they are usually WAY more cheaper than the bridal shop. Good luck with your ordering!
My wedding is July 26, and I'm going with J. Crew dress for my girls. Two of them have ordered (and received, and one has modeled) their dresses. The other BM hasn't ordered her dress yet, but I'm not sweating it because she won't need alterations, so as long as they don't discontinue the new spring colors ASAP, we have plenty of time.
My date is August 8th, and we already ordered the dresses. The girls all got different styles (same color and material) of mori lee's dresses, these dresses were all ordered from 4 different stores. Thankfully the stores all knew of each other (they are all over the state) and they were able to put the order in as one but yet have the dresses shipped to the different stores. I would say order the dresses here soon, especially as we are getting closer to wedding season. Good luck!
We're ordering Bill Levkoff dresses.. as far as I've heard they aren't running into production issues. Three of my four girls have been measured and put down their deposit for the dresses to be ordered. The store recommends ordering the dresses all together to ensure they're all coming from the same dye lot (I agree that is the best option).
Anyone heard about production issues with Levkoff?
We ordered ours last month....they said it takes 3 months so we should get ours in May....
My BMs ordered Bill Levkoff. The store told us 12-16 weeks. We ordered mid-Decemeber. I purposely wanted leeway because of having people out of the area. This way theres extra time for alterations when the dresses do come in. My wedding is mid-July. We ordered Levkoff for my sisters weddin and it was a good 12 weeks before the dresses came in.
Thank you JessinNY for your comment on Bill Levkoff's production times you've had. All of my girls finally got measured and the dresses have been ordered... I'm hoping that they all come in time.. The store told me 3 months, so I'll just go off of what they told me. I have heard in the past that some manufacturers actually make and ship dresses based on the wedding date, not the order date. So hopefully if there were a few later-summer weddings, mine will ship a few weeks earlier.
Has anyone heard this before?

For all of you with July weddings.. have you ordered your BM's dresses yet? I'm running into a little trouble getting all of my girls into town to try on the sample and get sized and I'm worried if I wait much longer the dresses won't be here in time for alterations!
Please let me know how far in advance you ordered yours!
